LISTEN NOW! Greg, John, and Pat discuss Dr. King and his pursuit of just holding America to what was written on the paper, meaning the U.S. Constitution. If you were asked what the foundation of Christianity was, what would you say? Would you know or would you guess? When Steve Deace sat down and spoke with Glenn Beck, he talked about what the responses were when he asked Christians the very same question.
“Almost every time, they are going to tell me ‘the Bible’.” He retorts, “No it’s not. Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith.” As he recounts the simple truth of Christ being raised from the dead and God’s hand intervening into the timeline of mankind, he elaborates further, “Did that fact happen? If it did then the Bible is the clarification… how we are to then live in light of that fact.” He makes the distinction between what the foundation and the responses he received by stating, “The foundation is Christ. The clarification is the Bible.”
With this very understanding, Deace then switches gears and turns the attention to the often-misunderstood perception between the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. “That is the relationship, I believe, between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.” He highlights the purpose of the U.S. Constitution, “Then the inevitable questions that come along when we have conflicts, how do we resolve those things? The Constitution clarifies those conflicts. But, the Declaration is the foundation.”
Many voices and conversations are going back and forth about the details and issues addressed within the U.S. Constitution, but we must get back to the understanding and the importance of the Declaration. We can look at the beginning educational documents in America and see how much things have changed. The first book for education was the New England Primer. Like David Barton, founder and President of WallBuilders, explains, “It was the first textbook ever printed in America.” Inside this small textbook, children first learned their alphabet by correlating people and stories in the Bible to each letter. Many will say that America is not a Christian nation, but when we investigate our history, we can see how false that is.
David who is a historian discusses this topic with Rick Green who is a former legislature, and they speak on Foundations of Freedom. They share how the Bible is a founding document in America right along with the U.S. Constitution and The Declaration of Independence. David shares, “The Bible was the number one source, far and away more than any other source; the Bible was the most frequently quoted source. So it is a founding document in America…we have over 250 idioms that we use on a daily basis that are direct quotations out of the Bible…the Bible is so much a part of what we do that people don’t recognize it.” Many don’t realize how much they quote the Bible!
A question is posed wondering when the right time is to teach children to study the Bible. David answers, “When you look at American history, the right time to start training them is when they start to read.” The Bible along with Dr. Watts Hymns were used in public schools, and that is how children learned to read! As reported by the records of the Columbia Historical Society, February 10, 1813 “55 have learned to read in the Old and New Testaments; and all are able to spell words of 3, 4, and 5 syllables; 26 are now learning to read Dr. Watts Hymns and spells words of 2 syllables; 10 are learning words of 4 & 5 letters. Of 59 out of the whole number admitted [or enrolled] that did not know a single letter, 20 can now read the Bible and spell words of 3, 4, and five syllables; 29 read Dr. Watts Hymns and spell words of 2 syllables; and ten words of 4 & 5 letters.”
They go on to discuss Fisher Ames who was a framer of the Bill of Rights. David describes Ames’ comments on his observations, “The more textbooks we’re putting in the classroom, the more time we’re having to spend on those textbooks. He says the more time we spend on those textbooks, the less time we have available on the Bible…If we’re not careful, the Bible is going to start drifting to the back of our classrooms, and this can’t be tolerated in American education.” These words are spoken from one of our forefathers more than 200 years ago and it has come to pass because the Bible has drifted out of our classrooms!
Benjamin Rush, a signer of The Declaration of Independence, was also called the father of public schools under the Constitution because he is considered the first founding father to advance the idea of free public schools. He gave 12 reasons why we should never take the Bible out of schools! “Any generation that takes the Bible out of schools will spend all of its time and money fighting crime.” Also, Benjamin shared truth on the importance of reading the Bible, “The Bible, when not read in schools is seldom read in any subsequent period of life.” This is happening in America now!
Benjamin Franklin, another Founding Father, spoke as an 81-year-old man at the Constitutional Convention as each delegation from every state came with their own plans, so Benjamin speaks from his heart. “In this situation of this assembly, groping, as it were, in the dark to find political truth, and scarce able to distinguish it when presented to us, how it happened, sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of Lights to illuminate our understandings? In the beginning of the contest with Britain when we were sensible for danger, we had daily prayers in this room for the Divine Protection. Our prayers, sir, were heard and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending Providence in our favor…And have we now forgotten that powerful Friend? Or do we imagine we no longer need His assistance? I have lived, sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth; that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, sir, in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe that without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel…and we ourselves shall become a reproach and a byword down to future ages.” He was our least religious Founding Father, yet he still knew the Bible so well that in this speech he included 9 Bible verses because that is how he was taught in school!

In this wisdom moment, we discuss how through the truth of God’s Word we can get wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
“My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:1-6
We are finding out that if we want wisdom and knowledge for our everyday lives, we can follow this Proverbs! We must first accept God’s Word and secondly, we need to store up God’s Word in us, which would be soaking in His Word. Many do this by memorizing scripture. Next, we must turn our ear to God which would be having a relationship with Him. At this point, we would apply our heart to this understanding and call out for insight and understanding! We must open our mouths and ask God for this and God will answer.
Also, our eyes will have to get involved in this process, we look for understanding and search for it like treasure. We start recognizing what leads us closer to the Lord and what will draw us away. God responds to our hunger for Him and will fill us up as we seek Him. Will you seek Him? When you do, He will give you everything you need! We want to hear from you! When you think about the start of America, besides the Native Americans that already lived here, most of the citizens are immigrants! America is very welcoming to immigrants that want to come and become a citizen legally. Due to the need for protecting our nation, it is imperative that all immigrants enter our nation legally! We hear from a few new citizens of America who share the importance of going through the citizenship process and becoming a legal citizen.
Our founding fathers came together and wrote the Declaration of Independence because the immigrants who were now colonists did not want to be under British leadership anymore but wanted to live in freedom in this newly discovered nation. In the Declaration of Independence, they wrote 27 reasons as to why they wanted to be free. Because they wanted freedom, it resulted in the American Revolutionary War, which many fought and died for the freedom that resulted from this war.
Several new citizens of America share their experience with us as they have entered America legally. Vanessa Ulloa, originally from El Salvador shares the process of becoming a citizen. “You need to know how to write and speak English, make sure you know and understand that language. We went over the history and what the past was about.” She came to America for the job opportunities because she wants to become a vet and her mother wanted her to get away from the gangs that are in her home country.
Mamam Jalloh, originally from Sierra Leone, shares about her experience. “I am ready to defend the country and the Constitution. I like to become a citizen of America because of the opportunities they have and because of the freedom. Freedom of everything. America is the best country. I feel it is unfair for the people that come in here illegally. I think that everybody that comes to the United States they should go through all the process and come here legally.” It is great to see people who are grateful to be a citizen of America!
When people go through the process to become an America citizen, they must pass a test demonstrating knowledge of English and U.S. history. Also, they must pledge their willingness to be drafted into service should law require it. The day that they take the Oath of Allegiance, to become a citizen, they stand for the national anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.
“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.” Oath of Allegiance
Michelle Malkin, with PragerU, speaks more about America being a nation of immigrants. Michelle speaks the truth about immigration and how America does allow people to become citizens, legally. “The United States still maintains the most generous immigration policies in the world, generous to a fault, because the overwhelming numbers have stymied our ability to assimilate the huddled masses. 50 million residents are foreign-born. In fact, today the United States has more immigrants as a percentage of its population than at any time since 1890.”
She gives an example of how many immigrants that are here: in the New York City school systems there are 176 different languages spoken among the students. Michelle answers the question; how did we get here? “America grants permanent residence to a million people every single year.” She continues with speaking about chain migration which is another way people are eligible to become a citizen. It allows citizens to sponsor not only their immediate family but also their extended family.
Princeton University did a recent study and found that immigrants sponsor an average of 3.45 additional relatives each. “So, the one million residents granted permanent residence each year potentially adds over time, another three and a half million.”
America allows 100,000 people a year to seek asylum and from 2008-2017 green cards were given to over a million people for humanitarian reasons which allowed them to live and work here permanently. Also, during this time frame close to 500,000 people came into America through the Diversity Visa Lottery. “This non-stop flow of new legal immigrants based on family ties instead of skills, abilities, and allegiance to American values, has of course been supplemented by many who enter illegally and stay illegally.”
The official U.S Government term for an “undocumented” citizen is Illegal Alien: an unlawful entrant who came without permission and stays in open defiance of our laws. “The number given for the amount of illegal aliens is usually given as 11 million but have you noticed that number never seems to change? Common sense suggests it’s higher, much higher…building a high-tech border barrier would certainly help stem this flow. Ending chain migration is another obvious remedy…all solutions will ultimately fail unless we get control of the numbers and enforce our laws consistently…this is our home, we have not only the right but the responsibility to determine who comes in, how many come in and what qualities and qualifications they bring…it’s not hateful to protect our borders, it’s not hateful to protect our citizens, it’s not hateful to protect our values.”
President Donald Trump says that “For America to be a strong nation, we must have strong borders.” We are thankful for the border patrol that protects Americans, and we are also thankful for President Trump working to protect our borders because the chief responsibility for the President of the United States is to protect our borders. It is better to come to America legally, and there are many ways that can be done. It is better to come the right way so that you know that you can stay. Real Talk: American Citizenship, Legal and Illegal Immigration and the Importance of Protecting our Borders
When you think about the start of America, besides the Native Americans that already lived here, most of the citizens are immigrants! America is very welcoming to immigrants that want to come and become a citizen legally. Due to the need for protecting our nation, it is imperative that all immigrants enter our nation legally! We are excited to talk about Celebrate Freedom Week in Florida! Superintendent of Schools in Escambia County, Malcom Thomas shared this exciting news. Many schools in America are not even teaching the truth about the founding of our nation. A university has shredded the U.S. Constitution. It seems that many schools are like re-education camps making our children Marxist as Lance Wallnau has said. This is great to see schools participating in celebrating our freedom in America! We pray this spread all over our nation.
Malcom Thomas gave this message to everyone in Escambia County, “To emphasize the importance of Celebrate Freedom Week, at the beginning of each school day…all schools will share a portion of the preamble of the Declaration of Independence during the pledge of allegiance and the moment of silence. I hope you will join us in helping your child learn about the freedoms that we all enjoy as citizens of the United States of America.”
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Preamble to the Declaration of Independence

Today we celebrate Independence Day in America! What is July 4th all about? David Barton with Wallbuilders, shares about what led up to Independence Day. There were many battles and raids where the British attempted to take our freedom. “Despite our many efforts to reconcile with Great Britain… time that finally arrived where the founding fathers no longer had any good options left for them. So, in the Continental Congress on June 7th, 1776, Richard Henry Lee made the following famous proposal that Congress approve a resolution declaring quote, ‘That these united colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states.’ Now Congress did not immediately act on his motion to separate from Great Britain.” A few days later though Congress did appoint several of America’s founding fathers: Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman and Robert Livingston. These men were asked to write a statement as to why the colonies were seeking independence. This resolution passed because not one state voted against it. On July 4th, 1776 Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. Once this was done the appointed men, John Adams, Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson set into motion in making a seal for the new nation. John Adams description of the seal is, “Children of Israel in the wilderness, led by a cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night. Moses lifting his wand and dividing up the sea and Pharaoh and his chariots overwhelmed with the waters. And this motto: Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.” Within 24 hours copies of the Declaration of Independence was dispersed amongst the newly freed country and people were rejoicing. It took about eight weeks altogether to produce and complete the Declaration of Independence.
David continues sharing how John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail concerning this new declaration. “Yesterday the greatest question was decided, which ever was debated in America, and a greater perhaps never was nor will be decided among men. A resolution was passed without one dissenting colony that these united colonies are and of right ought to be free and independent states. You will see in a few days a declaration setting forth the causes which have impelled us to this mighty revolution, and the reasons which will justify it in the sight of God and man.” He then predicted what future generations would do on Independence Day. “I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding generations, as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shews, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from the end of this continent to the other form this time forward forever more.” John predicted what now continues 236 years later as we celebrate every year with parties, festivals, fireworks, and much more! Also, we need to remember how God graciously set America free and has allowed us to stay a free nation to this day! Let us not forget where we have come from and always to give God the glory. According to the United States Constitution in the first amendment no law can be established concerning the press. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Press is defined as: printed publications collectively, especially newspapers and periodicals; all the media and agencies that print, broadcast, or gather and transmit news including newspapers, news magazines, radio and television news bureaus, and wire services. This means that if you wanted to start writing a newsletter or a news blog you have the freedom to do that!
Everything starts from somewhere and the U.S. Constitution started with the Magna Carta which was a 13th century peace treaty. “The Magna Carta effects nearly 2 billion people on over 100 countries,” according to Sir Robert Worcester, Chairman of the Magna Carta Committee. “Eight of the ten in the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States, are straight from Magna Carta.” This document was originally granted by an English king. CBN News reports, “Magna Carta, Latin for “Great Charter” was drawn up at a time when the divine right of kings and the futile system was the law of the land. Whereby a monarch’s right to rule was not bound by any earthly authority but came directly from Almighty God.” Before the Magna Carta was written up King John is described by CBN as “inept, greedy, corrupt, and showed mercy to no one.” He was selling off widows to widowers and instructing them that they had to marry this woman and if they didn’t want to, then he’d fine them.” Additionally, “If the barons owed him money, King John took their children as hostages until full payment was made.” It was a terrible time of brutal leadership and the people could only take this treatment for so long. A document of peace was finally written “originally called the Articles of the Barons, contained 63 clauses that limited the king’s powers in matters of the church, courts, trade, taxes, and individual rights.” The Magna Carta established the principle of the rule of law and it started the foundation for individual rights.
Because of the Magna Carta being written, the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence became a reality and Americans have rights that originated from the Magna Carta.
