Don’t Allow False Threats of Racism Stop You from Standing for the Truth

Could you imagine being a trusted business owner, then someone steals from you, and because you confronted the thief you are falsely accused of being racist? Unfortunately, this happened in a local store at Oberlin College, in the state of Ohio. We want to encourage and remind you as leaders and citizens in America that you have rights when you are falsely accused of something. Racism is evil! Being falsely accused of racism is evil too. There is justice in America, and we look at a case that took place in Ohio with Oberlin College and Gibson Bakery and Candy, a local store since 1885, where the falsely accused received justice.

Daniel McGraw with the Quillette reported the facts and the facts are that three African American Oberlin students tried to buy wine with a fake ID but were underage so they could not buy it but after that one of the students was caught trying to steal two bottles of wine. Gibson’s store called the police, and the students were arrested. The student that tried to steal the wine was held in jail on a felony charge of robbery. Immediately Oberlin College campus protested the arrest of the students stating that the students had been racially profiled by a racist white business. Two to three hundred students protested outside of the store the day after the incident. Once the college saw the protest, they started circulating communications that they supported the protests and openly agreeing that this was racial profiling. They protested to the point of canceling their purchase agreement with the store and the “student senate” passed what they called a resolution stating, “the Students of Oberlin College immediately cease all support, financial and otherwise, of Gibson’s Food Market and Bakery.”

Within a week a report was released from the police showing the arrests for shoplifting at Gibson’s that had happened from January 2011 to November 2016. There was a total of 40 arrests, 33 were college students, 32 were white, 80%, six were African American, 15%, and two were Asian, 5%.

The Gibson’s spent so much money on this trial that they went from eight to one employee by the end of the trial. They were losing their income, and how they lived because of the false allegations of racism, so they chose to sue the college. All they wanted was for the college to send out an email to the community stating that the Gibson’s were not racist, and if they did the charges would be dropped, but the school declined. During the court proceedings, the college could have said they were wrong at any time, but they wouldn’t, so the college was found guilty and had to award the Gibson’s with $44 million!

All three students who were initially arrested read this statement in court – “I believe the employees of Gibson’s actions were not racially motivated they were merely trying to prevent an underage sale.”

What is racism? It is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior. Based on this definition you could be racist against any race!

The American court system found that the college was guilty of making false claims against the Gibson’s. There is justice in America! Many people are trying to do away with the U.S. Constitution, saying it is an outdated document and are against America and our Founding Fathers. Because of the Sixth Amendment, the Gibson’s were able to find justice!

What is the Sixth Amendment? It reads, In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.

Don’t give up on America and our Constitution because when things are done in the right order, the remedy can be justice in the courts. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” This is the opposite of what Oberlin College did! Because of their false accusations, it made light of true racism. Oberlin reportedly made this false allegation because they want to keep their students happy. Enrollment is down and with so many schools to choose to attend, that they are following along with the students to keep them and their money and to attract other students to their college as well.

The question many are asking right now is that is America racist? President Barak Obama even stated that racism is in our DNA but is this true? He was the first African American president in America, and he was elected for two terms, so how is his statement true? Larry Elder for Prager University reports on racism in America and helps to answer these questions.

“Is racism still a major problem in America? President Barack Obama certainly thinks so. He said that racism is “in our DNA.” Really? If racism is in our DNA, doesn’t that mean it’s immutable, unchangeable? But America has changed and dramatically so. In 1960, 60% of Americans said they would never vote for a black president. Almost 50 years later, the black man who said racism is in America’s DNA was elected president, and four years later re-elected. That’s only the most obvious example of racial progress. There are many others.

“Take inter-racial marriage. As William H. Frey of the Brookings Institution wrote, “Sociologists have traditionally viewed multiracial marriage as a benchmark for the ultimate stage of assimilation of a particular group into society.” Black-white marriages were still illegal in 16 states until 1967. And a 1958 Gallup poll found that only 4% of Americans approved of black-white marriages. Today that number is 87%. In 1960, of all marriages by blacks, only 1.7 percent were black-white. Today, it’s 12 percent and rising.

“Now what about “racial profiling” and abuse of blacks by police? Doesn’t that prove that racism remains a major problem? In the summer of 2014, Ferguson, Missouri became ground zero for this accusation when a white policeman shot and killed an unarmed black teenager. While a Department of Justice investigation of the incident cleared the officer of any wrongdoing, it did accuse the city’s police department of racial bias. But what was the Justice Department report’s most headline-grabbing stat? The gap between the percentage of blacks living in Ferguson — 67% — and the percentage of those stopped by police for traffic violation who are black — 85%. An 18-point discrepancy. Racism, right? Not so fast. Blacks comprise 25% of New York City but account for 55% of those stopped for traffic offenses — a 30-point discrepancy, far bigger than that of Ferguson. Why isn’t the NYPD, a department that is now majority-minority, considered even more institutionally racist than the Ferguson PD? The answer is you cannot have an honest discussion about police conduct without an honest discussion of black crime. Though blacks are 13% of the population, they commit 50% of the nation’s homicides, and almost always the victim is another black person, just as most white homicides are against other whites. In 2012, according to the Center for Disease Control, police killed 123 blacks, while, by the way, killing over twice that many whites. But that same year blacks killed over 6,000 people — again, mostly other blacks.

“What about traffic stops? Unlike when responding to dispatch calls, police officers exercise more discretion when it comes to traffic stops. Therefore “racist” cops can have a field day when it comes to traffic stops, right? Actually, no. The National Institute of Justice is the research agency of the Department of Justice. In 2013, the National Institute of Justice published a study called “Race, Trust, and Police Legitimacy.” Three out of four black drivers admitted that they were stopped by the police for a “legitimate reason.” Blacks, compared to whites, were on average more likely to commit speeding and other traffic offenses. The Institute wrote, “Seatbelt usage is chronically lower among black drivers. If a law enforcement agency aggressively enforces seatbelt violations, police will stop more black drivers.” The NIJ’s conclusion? These numerical disparities result from “differences in offending” — in other words, not because of racism.

“Similarly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also found that blacks violate traffic laws at higher rates than whites — in every offense, whether it’s driving without a license, not wearing a seat belt, not using a child safety seat or speeding.

“Is there still racism in America? Of course, there is. But racism is not in America’s DNA. Recent history and a lot of research and data prove it. As liberal Harvard sociologist Orlando Patterson said, America, “is now the least racist white-majority society in the world; has a better record of legal protections of minorities than any other society, white or black; offers more opportunities to a greater number of black persons than any other society, including all of those of Africa.” Patterson, by the way, is black.”

Facts matter! People are speaking lies over America and taking advantage of people. They are grabbing onto the pain of someone and using it for their political gain! Don’t believe the false narrative that is being spoken over America. What we need to need is be the truth and believe the truth and find the truth. If the truth is bad, then we need to repent and change what it is. Jesus came to the earth to be the truth! He stayed true even to the point of dying on the cross! We are called to do the same thing. Is America or Israel going to war with Iran? Michael Snyder, with Charisma Magazine, asked, “Do we even care that America is on the brink of an apocalyptic war with Iran?” Do we really know what is going on with Iran? Right now, America has sent the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, an aircraft carrier, to the Middle East so that we are ready to fight if need be. Is this a prophecy that the late John Paul Jackson gave coming to pass? How much will Israel take from Iran before they physically attack Iran? Based on this prophecy, Israel will have to respond to Iran’s threats and attacks trying to destroy them.

Jackson prophesied, “Even this year tensions in Israel and Iran are going to escalate. The day is going to come when Israel will hit Iran. They already have hit; there were mystery explosions that happened. The Lord told me about this. Israel will one day send in rockets into Iran, but before that day happens, there will be other explosions that will be called mystery explosions, and those have happened. But one day it is going to happen, and when that takes place, and those missiles hit Iran, there is going to be a huge growth of anti-Semitism. And everybody is going to blame Israel on the price of gasoline. You are going to see an incredible backlash that is going to happen. You are going to see OPEC countries forming an alliance that says we will not sell to anybody who supports Israel. So, America if you want gasoline you better stop your support of Israel…it is going to happen. It is going to happen not years from now, sooner than that, and everything is going to begin to change.”

This is happening! Once President Trump said to stop doing oil trade with Iran, which is reportedly 40% of their economy, it affected fuel prices. Stopping the support of terrorism, which is where most of the finances in Iran go, is important! Now Iranians are threatening to start their nuclear program again.

PragerU explains well how Iran must be stopped from using a nuclear bomb. “Why are so many people with so many different perspectives — from the Prime Minister of Israel to the King of Saudi Arabia — so worried that Iran might build a deliverable nuclear weapon? Or to put it even more simply: why do we have to stop Iran from getting the bomb? The reason is painfully obvious: They might actually use it.

“France has nuclear weapons. So does the United Kingdom. But nobody worries that they will use them. It’s not nuclear weapons that are the problem. It’s who has them and what they might do with them. “We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah,” said Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khomeini in 1980. “I say let this land burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam remains triumphant in the rest of the world.” A militant nation that does not fear its own destruction is a sure threat to its enemies. And that threat is taken to a whole new level if the militant nation arms itself with nuclear weapons.

“Who are the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran? There are three: The first enemy of Iran is the United States of America. A common slogan chanted by Iranians at public rallies is “Death to America.” But it’s not just a slogan. Iran has been committing actual acts of war against what it calls “The Great Satan” for over three decades. There was Iran’s seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979, the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 American servicemen, and the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia that killed another 19 Americans — not to mention the War in Iraq, during which Iran did little to disguise the fact that it supplied anti-American militias with sophisticated, armor-piercing munitions responsible for the maiming and death of hundreds of U.S. soldiers. A nuclear Iran could greatly expand its efforts to harm American interests, secure in the knowledge that its possession of nuclear weapons would make any military retaliation extremely unlikely. And over time, and not much time, a nuclear Iran could develop the sort of intercontinental ballistic missiles that would bring American and European cities within range of its weapons.

“A second enemy of Iran, which is a Shiite Muslim nation, are the Sunni Muslim nations of the Middle East. An Iranian bomb would instantly spark a nuclear arms race in the region as Arab states — nearly all of which have majority Sunni populations — move to defend themselves against aggression from Iran. As these regimes and dictatorships race to become nuclear powers, the chances that nuclear weapons might be used, either directly or through terrorist proxies, grow exponentially.

“And the third and ultimate enemy of Iran is Israel. Only around a thousand miles separate the Islamic Republic from The Jewish State. Iranian leaders have called Israel “a rabid dog,” “a cancerous tumor that needs to be cut away,” and have called publicly and repeatedly for Israel’s “annihilation.” They wage a continuous terrorist war against Israel through their proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas. Former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani — a man often described as a moderate and a pragmatist in the Western press — articulated the Iranian position this way: “If one day, the Islamic world is also equipped with weapons like those that Israel possesses now, then the imperialists’ strategy will reach a standstill because the use of even one nuclear bomb inside Israel will destroy everything. However, one bomb will only harm the Islamic world.” He’s right.

“That’s why the civilized and sensible leaders of the world cannot allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. Because once the Iranians do, they will pose a severe threat to the security of America and Europe, spark a regional arms race that could see the world’s worst players acquire the world’s worst weapons, and threaten the Jews with extermination for the second time in a century. Or to put it more simply: Iran cannot be allowed to get the bomb because they might actually use it.”

If some Iran extremist are teaching their children to stab and kill Jews and others with a knife and teaching them that they can strap a bomb to their bodies to kill others, then why would they not use a nuclear bomb to kill?

What is President Donald Trump saying about Iran and a potential war? “We will see what happens. It is going to be a bad problem for Iran if something happens. I can tell you that; they are not going to be happy.”

Everything taking place in the world is signs of the Lord’s return! And He says for the sake of Israel He will not stay quiet!

We are in a critical time in the world, but by the mercy of God, America is positioned in a better place than ever before to be able to face the terrorism threats taking place. When we look at the start of America’s history, we see how we declared our independence from the King of England to form America as one nation under God, with God as our King. After this, the U.S. Constitution was written forming a government that was by the people, lining out the powers that the government has over the people. It describes all the different branches of government and what power each branch holds. Then the Bill of Rights was added, which is the first ten amendments to the Constitution which lists certain restrictions on the government to protect the rights of individual U.S. citizens. America is a unique experimentation taking place, and we can keep our freedom if we keep it a nation under God while at the same time upholding our Constitutional rights.

Within the Bill of Rights, we will look at one amendment which is discussed often in America and that is the Second Amendment to the Constitution. What is the Second Amendment and how important is it to protect this right? The Second Amendment reads, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” This is specifically about the security of a free state and the citizens’ rights to protect themselves. When we look at history in the world, we see where every time a leader took away people’s guns not long after their freedom was also taken, with Hitler being one such leader. In America’s previous administration they were against Americans having gun rights and we openly speak against the police officers in our country who protect our citizens. They were working to polarize the citizens against guns even to the point of wanting to make gun ownership illegal. Supporting the Constitution is good because it is supporting your rights as a citizen, we need to ignore those saying that it is wrong to support it as that is saying no to our freedom. Also, this isn’t praying for us to have guns, but it is praying for Americans to keep our freedoms outlined in the Constitution and with that comes responsibility.

The NRA, National Rifle Association, is an organization that defends U.S. citizens rights to keep and bear arms while also educating people on gun safety and so much more. President Donald Trump spoke at the 2019 NRA convention about the UN Arms Trade Treaty or ATT and how America is working to end this treaty. The NRA reports their stand on ATT and how they have been working to end this treaty as it threatens our citizens Second Amendment rights. “The most pressing international threat to U.S. gun owners is the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). Among its most egregious provisions, the treaty encourages national recordkeeping requirements for “end users” of covered arms (including firearms) and suggests that national governments share such records. Further, the ATT compels countries to make arms import and export decisions based upon a trading partner’s willingness to abide by the treaty’s requirements, which could isolate the United States from legitimate trade in arms or force it to adopt restrictions detrimental to Second Amendment rights. During the drafting phase, NRA vigorously advocated for civilian firearm ownership be removed from the treaty’s scope. Those recommendations were ignored, meaning U.S. firearms policy could become the rest of the world’s business and subject to its approval, on pain of trade restrictions if it doesn’t meet “international norms.” Secretary of State John Kerry signed the ATT on behalf of the U.S. on September 25, 2013. NRA continues to work with its Senate allies to prevent ratification or implementation of the treaty in the U.S.”

We join President Trump at the NRA convention to hear his remarks concerning ATT and to see him signing a request to end this treaty. “We have shut down the previous administration’s massive abuse of power known as Operation Choke Point. Under this ill-advised program, government bureaucrats discouraged banks from making loans to gun retailers — a backdoor attack on private gun ownership that will never be allowed to happen on my watch. That’s step one, folks — step one. You know what step two, three, and four is. Step four is: You don’t have guns. You don’t have any way to protect yourself.

“Today, I’m proud to announce another historic step to protect your Second Amendment rights…So, in the last administration, President Obama signed the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty. And in his waning days in office, he sent the treaty to the Senate to begin the ratification process. This treaty threatened your subjugate …your rights and your constitutional and international rules and restrictions and regulations. Under my administration, we will never surrender American sovereignty to anyone. We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedom. And that is why my administration will never ratify the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty…And I am officially announcing today that the United States will be revoking the effect of America’s signature from this badly misguided [agreement]. We’re taking our signature back. The United Nations will soon receive a formal notice that America is rejecting this treaty.

“As part of this decision, I will sign right now, in front of a lot of witnesses…a message asking the Senate to discontinue the treaty ratification process and to return the now-rejected treaty right back to me, in the Oval Office, where I will dispose of it…By taking these actions, we are reaffirming that American liberty is sacred and that American citizens live by American laws, not the laws of foreign countries. Thank you.”

This is encouraging to see because in the last administration Americans were at the point of losing many freedoms which we had covered on our program. God has had mercy on our nation allowing us to keep our freedom! We need to remind ourselves of the history of our nation so that we don’t lose the freedoms that past generations fought for. PragerU answers the question for us, is gun ownership a right? Eugene Volokh, Professor of Law at UCLA, speaks for Prager University. “Does an American citizen have a Constitutional right to own a gun? Here’s what the Second Amendment says: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Now, it once seemed to me like that language only protected state militias and not individuals. Indeed, this is the view held by the four dissenting Supreme Court justices in the 2008 case of District of Columbia versus Heller, a landmark case dealing with gun ownership. But the more research I did, the more I came to realize that my initial view was mistaken and that the Founders were, in fact, securing an individual right. The five justices who voted to affirm the right to own a gun in DC versus Heller had, indeed, made the correct decision.”

He asks us to look at the Second Amendment again as he breaks it down for us. “We first need to focus on the phrase “the right of the people.” Note that the people are the only ones whose right is secured here, not the militia or a state government. This phrase “the right of the people” comes up a few times in the Constitution. For example, the First Amendment refers to “The right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government.” And the Fourth Amendment secures “The right of the people to be secure…against unreasonable searches and seizures.”

“Why, then, if the authors of the Constitution felt so strongly about “the right of the people” to own guns, did they include language about “a well-regulated militia”? These opening words of the amendment might be called a “justification clause.” Such clauses are used to help explain why a right is being secured. But it’s the operative clause that explains what right is being secured. In this case, the right of the people to keep and bear arms. And what was the word ‘militia’ understood to mean at the time?

“Well, the Militia Act of 1792 defined “militia” to mean all white males 18 to 45. Today, of course, “militia” would include women and people of all races, but it was clearly not a reference to a small, National Guard-type group. And what about the part of the amendment that says a militia is necessary “to the security of a free State”? What, the opponents of personal gun ownership ask, does a personal right of gun ownership have to do with that? Again, historical context is key. In the 1790s, the phrase “free State” wasn’t used to mean an individual state like New York or Rhode Island. Rather, it meant what we’d call today a “free country”—a nation free of despotism. A “free State” is what the Framers wanted America to be. They saw an armed citizenry as, in part, a hedge against tyranny. Citizens who own weapons can protect themselves, prevent tyrants from seizing power, and protect the nation from foreign enemies. This does not mean, though, that this right is unlimited. Free speech, for example, has long been subject to some narrow and reasonable regulations. But severe restrictions on owning a gun, like severe restrictions on free speech, would violate the Second Amendment as the Founders understood it.

“Maybe you think this understanding of the Second Amendment is outdated today, that the Constitution needs to change as public attitudes change. The Founders included a provision for doing just that: if the public attitude really has changed, the Constitution can be amended to reflect that change. But, ironically, even if we focus on current public attitudes, the case for individual gun ownership is as strong as ever. Polls consistently show that over two-thirds of Americans believe that the Second Amendment secures the right of citizens to own a gun. And Congress and state governments have repeatedly reaffirmed this view, including in recent decades. So, does the Second Amendment secure an individual right to bear arms? It did when it was written. It has throughout American history. And it does today.”

From this explanation, we see that nothing has changed! We must stand up for our Constitutional rights and keep our allegiance to America as written in our Pledge of Allegiance, “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” What do you think about America ending the UN Arms Trade Treaty? Many historical things have taken place concerning Israel recently, and President Donald Trump has worked hard with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to help make sure many of those things take place. America is blessing Israel, and in return we see America being blessed as well!

In a statement from the White House, President Trump underlines his actions of designating Iran’s military, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

“I am formally announcing my Administration’s plan to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including its Qods Force, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This unprecedented step, led by the Department of State, recognizes the reality that Iran is not only a State Sponsor of Terrorism, but that the IRGC actively participates in, finances, and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft. The IRGC is the Iranian government’s primary means of directing and implementing its global terrorist campaign. This designation will be the first time that the United States has ever named a part of another government as an FTO. It underscores the fact that Iran’s actions are fundamentally different from those of other governments. This action will significantly expand the scope and scale of our maximum pressure on the Iranian regime. It makes crystal clear the risks of conducting business with, or providing support to, the IRGC. If you are doing business with the IRGC, you will be bankrolling terrorism. This action sends a clear message to Tehran that its support for terrorism has serious consequences. We will continue to increase financial pressure and raise the costs on the Iranian regime for its support of terrorist activity until it abandons its malign and outlaw behavior.”

This is a huge deal for Israel and the world by formally declaring Iran’s military as a terrorist organization. Imagine how the citizens of Israel must feel about America and President Trump and the fact that he has made it clear that America is friends with Israel and that their enemies are our enemies!

Prime Minister Netanyahu quickly responded to President Trump’s designation of this terrorist group with a Tweet stating, “Thank you, my dear friend, President Donald Trump, for deciding to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization. Thank you for answering another one of my important requests, which serves the interests of our country and the countries of the region.”

Next, we discuss the recent elections that took place in Israel for the Prime Minister which we now know that Netanyahu won that election but how does an election in Israel work? A reporter from CBN News, John Waage, who is in Israel, walks us through the election process. “Once the results are in, the President of Israel who is really a figurehead kind of a ceremonial leader of the country, invites all the parties who have done well in the election and says to them, ‘Who do you think should be the one to form a government?’ Now that person when that person is chosen, he or she, has 28 days to get a coalition together, if they don’t get it they… can petition for 14 more days…to get a coalition formed. If that doesn’t happen, it goes back to the drawing board. So, it’s going to take weeks to find out…whether the winner can get a coalition together to lead the country.”

Just because one gets elected as the Prime Minister doesn’t mean that they will become the Prime Minister! This is the test of a leader to find out if the person elected can get people together to help him lead the country. What do you think about Israel’s form of government? We want to hear from you!

Prime Minister Netanyahu visited America for AIPAC 2019, and he also spoke with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. In this visit, President Trump and America recognized Israel as sovereign over the Golan Heights! It is just one more historical act between America and Israel during the Trump administration. It is encouraging to hear Prime Minister Netanyahu’s words about President Trump and America.

President Trump remarks first acknowledging that the Golan Heights should have been under Israel’s sovereignty a long time ago. “But today, I think we’re talking about — more than anything else, we’re celebrating the Golan Heights. It’s something that I’ve been hearing about for many years, from many people. I’ve been studying for years. And this should have been done; I would say, numerous Presidents ago. But for some reason, they didn’t do it, and I’m very honored to have done it. So, I just want to say, Bibi, it’s an honor to have you at the Oval Office. Thank you.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu responds. “Thank you. May I say that I’ve been here many, many, many times. I’ve been around. And I’ve met many friends of Israel in this office. But as I said in the other room, just now, in a day of history, we have never had a greater friend than President Trump. And I think there is a unique bond between our countries, between our administrations, between the two of us. There has been no greater bond than that. It serves the interests of Israel in ways that I cannot begin to describe because not everything that the President and I talk about can be shared with the public. And I think that, in many ways, the President knows, and the United States knows that America has no better friend than Israel. We are willing to fight for our common values. We’re willing to fight. You have an ally that is willing to take up arms in defense of liberty, in defense of our land, our people, and our common values. We admire America, and we’re grateful to you. Thank you, Mr. President.”

It is rewarding to see the friendship that America has with Israel! It is completely different than it was in the previous administration and just as Prime Minister Netanyahu has said how great of a friendship America and Israel have, we look at the importance of America supporting Israel by spending money in that country!

PragerU helps answer a question many may ask as to why America spends so much in Israel? U.S. General Chuck Wald helps explain that for us.

“Why do we spend so much money on Israel? Over my decades of military service, as the Deputy Commander of United States European Command and now as a security advisor, I’ve often heard people make this complaint. The truth is we don’t spend enough. We should spend more. And for purely selfish reasons. Every dollar we spend on Israel is a dollar spent, in effect, in our own defense. As a value proposition, it’s all in America’s favor.

“Let me explain, but before I do let me say this: I can easily defend why America supports Israel on moral grounds alone. I’ve been there on numerous occasions. It’s a good and decent country. Given the neighborhood it lives in, I find that both remarkable and admirable. But I will make this argument solely on the basis of America’s security. Our partnership with Israel is unique. Unlike most of our current treaty alliances — say with South Korea — our ties with Jerusalem are not premised on American troops serving as tripwires on Israel’s frontlines. This is because Israel takes care of itself. America, for good reason, remains wary of any further military engagement in the Middle East. And this only strengthens the case for giving Israel the tools it needs to defend its borders.

“Here are three things we can do – again, all in our own self-interest. First, the United States should front load its financial commitment to Israel. We have agreed to provide Israel $38 billion in defense assistance over ten years. That’s a big number, but it’s also a great deal – for America. In addition to giving Israel the financial wherewithal to purchase the weapons it needs, it also benefits the American economy. Under the agreement, Israel must spend these funds on U.S. products. And it’s happy to do so. Without adding a cent to the total, the United States should “front-load” this assistance to reflect the changing strategic situation in the Middle East, specifically the rising danger presented by Iran and its proxies Hezbollah and Hamas. An accelerated timetable would allow Israel to acquire critical capabilities like more F-35 air attack squadrons, more air refueling tankers and more precision munitions. It will need this hardware to defend itself and American interests against these persistent, and growing, threats.

“Second, the United States should enhance our alliance with Israel. It may surprise you to know that the United States does not have a defense treaty with this essential ally – lots of agreements, but no treaty. We should. Why is this so important? Because it will send a loud strategic signal to Israel’s enemies that if you mess with Israel, you mess with us. Israel is not going to ask us for troops. But we should be giving them anything else they need – intelligence, weapons technology, and other vital information. And we know this is a two-way street. Israel gives a lot in return.

“Which leads me to the third point. The United States and Israel should build on their already close collaboration in research and development. Israel is one of the most high-tech economies in the world. American investors understand this. More venture capital is spent per capita in Israel than in any other country. Nine out of the ten largest companies have R&D facilities there. This is in a country of just 8 million people. When we sell them military gear, they adapt it to their own special needs. The American military, in turn, benefits from these innovations, especially in the area of desert warfare. Indeed, President Obama’s Defense Secretary Ashton Carter made this point. “There’s no question that American lives have been saved by Israeli technology.”

“There are many cutting-edge projects we can work on together, such as directed-energy weapons. This new form of cannon emits highly-focused energy to neutralize targets. Such weapons will be needed to counter the spread of cheap, deadly and plentiful mortars and drones from Iran and other bad actors. All this explains why I find it so infuriating to see Americans, especially young Americans, support anti-Israel groups like BDS – Boycott, Divest, Sanction –that want to weaken and destroy Israel. Putting aside the perverse logic of these groups – that we should punish a free and open democracy – it’s self-destructive. Israel is on the front line of terror. They, not us, are within missile range of Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas. To the extent these enemies of freedom are held in check, they are held in check by Israel. And, they ask from us not one US soldier – only for military aid, which they spend on American defense products to help defend American interests. We should give them that aid without reservation. Sure, it costs us treasure. But it saves us blood. Our blood. It’s also the right thing to do.”

Many are talking about Universal Basic Income, UBI, some wanting it to be implemented in America while others are pointing out the facts of how this would not work. Money for everyone sounds great but who would pay for it? We break this down for you with the help from knowledgeable people on the subject.

First, Larry Summers who has held many different positions in his lifetime which has given him much experience shares his opinion on UBI. He is the Charles W. Eliot University Professor and President Emeritus at Harvard University. He also served as the 71^st Secretary of the Treasury for President Clinton and the Director of the National Economic Council for President Obama. We join Summers at the New York Times Conference.

“Question is, why am I negative on Universal Basic Income. One possibility is that I just lack imagination and that I’m wrong…I’m open to the possibility that I’m wrong. That said, I think there are two big things you have to think about with Universal Basic Income. One is just the sheer cost. How big should the Universal Basic Income be? $10,000 per person doesn’t seem like an immense number. $10,000 per person means $3.3 trillion for the United States. To finance that you would have to double every tax we collect; every tax the federal government collects. It just doesn’t feel to me like doubling all the taxes, sending the top income tax rate to 90% before you get to state taxes. It just doesn’t feel to me like that is going to happen…if it did happen to a small universal basic income but if you had a $3,000 basic income it would only cost $1 trillion a year, and it would only be a $3,000 income on which nobody could live. I think the first problem with it is the sheer immensity of the cost.”

Summers continues speaking with the second problem he sees with UBI, “I don’t think it embodies the right values. Everything I know of the human experience, I’m really stepping out of economics now, tells me that people derive satisfaction from vocation, and they derive satisfaction from work. And a society that is designed to pay a large number of people for not working is going to be a very unhappy society…the evidence is that they are not happy, they are not satisfied, they are not healthy. I don’t think of Universal Basic Income, which is paying people not to work, is the right thing. I think of it in a different way…I look at our society, and there are vast amounts of work to be done.” He points out different areas in society that can provide a job where someone is truly needed.

“I would much rather think about how to provide employment opportunity for people who do not have employment opportunity, doing the vitally important work of society, then I would be writing people off by giving them checks. I think it’s better for the people; I think it’s better for the work they are able to contribute, and I think it’s healthier for the unity of the society.”

This recalls the fact that computers are replacing people because it is cheaper, and it has already affected jobs. There are many different arguments as to why UBI will work with one argument being that computers are replacing human jobs but as Summers said people find value in their work and it is even written of in the Bible!

“I have seen what is best for people here on earth. They should eat and drink and enjoy their work, because the life God has given them on earth is short. God gives some people the ability to enjoy the wealth and property he gives them, as well as the ability to accept their state in life and enjoy their work. They do not worry about how short life is, because God keeps them busy with what they love to do.” Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 NC

Just work! Be involved in something like volunteering and find enjoyment in life! God created us to find enjoyment in our jobs. God has way more to give than government anyway! All the government can have is what they take from you. Slavery is a tax rate, for example, if you are taxed at 50% of your income, then you are 50% a slave. We can look at other societies that have implemented something like UBI and see the decline in their culture. We can also look at capitalism and see how it has pulled billions of people out of poverty in the last 20 years! It is powerful what can happen when we allow God to be over a nation.

Ben Shapiro spoke at Young America’s Foundation about UBI and answered a question about what he thinks about more money being put into the hands of people versus the government.

“There is a distinction between different types of Universal Basic Income. Sometimes by Universal Basic income people just means the government is going to sign a check just in addition to the current means-tested program that exists. Sometimes they mean like Milton Friedman meant a negative income tax. Meaning we get rid of all of the welfare systems and instead we just sign you a flat check. That flat check is basically going to be for whatever you want it to be for. I think that the record for the Universal Basic income has not been particularly successful. They tested it in Ontario; they had to stop it because it was incentivizing people not to work. They tried it in Norway; it was also not practically effective. It was incentivizing people to be unwilling to work. It’s an idea that only makes sense under the supposition that there is a group of legitimate unemployables. That seems to be the growing perception these days that technology is going to take over. There’s going to be a permanent underclass of people who simply can’t get a job…that they won’t literally have a means to live unless we sign them a check.” Shapiro shares how he is skeptical about this line of thought because this has been a worry with every technology breakthrough. Job loss does happen temporarily, but it is not permanent! In America, there are 7 million unfilled jobs! He doesn’t think that America is at the point of need for UBI.

PragerU looks at the war on work from a different perspective of welfare and how that affects someone’s willingness to work. Michael Tanner of the Cato Institute is speaking on this war.

“In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson famously declared a War on Poverty. Half a century later, the poverty rate, the percentage of people the government declares to be living in poverty, has barely changed. Why? Are we not spending enough money?

“The federal government funds 126 separate anti-poverty programs. Seventy-two of these provide benefits either directly or indirectly to individuals. The cost? $680 billion in 2013. Add in state and local government spending on poverty programs, another $280 billion, and the total comes to nearly $1 trillion. That’s for one year. If just spending money was the solution, our poverty problem should be solved. But clearly, it’s not. We need a better answer. And that answer, upon a few moments of reflection, should be obvious. Work. Only 2.5% of Americans working full time are, by government standards, considered poor. Given, then, that work is the road out of poverty, shouldn’t we be doing everything we can to encourage people to get on that road? Of course, we should.

“Unfortunately, however, we are doing just the opposite. Our welfare benefits are frequently so generous that they discourage people from working. We have created, perhaps with the best of intentions, what economists call a perverse incentive – in this case, against work. This is not to suggest that poor people are lazy. Most certainly aren’t. But they also aren’t stupid.

“In a recent study for the Cato Institute, we looked at what a typical family on welfare could receive in benefits and compared that to what that recipient would need to earn in wages to maintain the same income. Our study looked at a typical welfare family with two children under the age of five. We assumed that this family receives benefits from the 7 most common welfare programs: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) – a straight cash program, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Women Infants and Children nutrition program or WIC, public housing vouchers, utilities assistance, and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program or CSFP which provides staples such as cheese, milk, canned vegetables and other basic dietary items.

“Of course, not every welfare recipient gets all these benefits, but some get benefits from even more programs. With 72 programs involved, there is a buffet of options. For example, if our hypothetical family had children older than 5, they wouldn’t receive benefits from the Women Infants and Children program, WIC. Instead, they would get free school breakfasts and lunches. Our study found that the value of these benefits vary from a low of $16,984 in Mississippi to an astonishing high of $49,175 in Hawaii. And keep this in mind: welfare benefits are not taxed, while wages are. That means that in many states welfare recipients would have to earn even more by working than they receive in benefits for not working in order to come out even. In fact, taking taxes into account, in 33 states a welfare recipient would receive more income through benefits than a worker could from working full time at a minimum wage job. In 13 states a mother on welfare with two children would receive more in benefits than by earning $15 per hour at a job. And, in the 8 most generous states, she could get more in benefits than by working at a $25 per hour job. And that’s without having to get to a place of business at a specific time, having to work eight hours, or deal with a boss and fellow employee.

“But don’t people who receive many of these benefits have to be working in some capacity or at least actively searching for work? Not really. In 2009, work requirements, the centerpiece of the Republican Congress/Clinton Administration Welfare Reform Bill of 1996, were severely eroded. Nationwide, fewer than 42 percent of recipients are participating in what are called, “work activities.” In some states, such as Missouri and Massachusetts, fewer than one out of five welfare recipients are “working.” And that uses a very broad definition of “work activity.” Going to college can be considered work. Job training can be considered work. Even just looking for work can be considered work. Yet, less than half of welfare recipients meet even these definitions.

“Many poor people are making what would seem to be a rational economic decision by not working. It’s pretty simple: If welfare pays better than work, why choose to work? But in the long run that tempting choice is a bad one – because it will end up keeping those in the welfare system trapped in poverty. Only working for wages — even minimum wages – (or marrying someone who works) puts you on a path out of poverty. If we are serious about reducing welfare dependency and helping Americans climb out of poverty, we need to establish a clear policy preference for work over welfare. But our current welfare benefits are so generous that not working too often seems like a better deal. It is no wonder, then, that even after 50 years of trying, we are still losing the War on Poverty.”

We can encourage young people to do these following three things to stay away from poverty! This is according to the Brookings Institute: finish high school, get a full-time job, and wait until the age of 21 to get married and have children. Their research showed that American adults who were able to follow these three rules, only around 2% are in poverty and close to 75% have joined the middle class which would be earning around $55,000 or more a year. This is following God’s plan for family and marriage. When we put God at the center of our lives, He is for us and not against us and we will be blessed! Why are so many American millennials socialist when they live in a democracy and a republic? With America having all the freedoms and opportunities she has, it has only happened because we are a democracy and a republic. So why do some Americans want socialism? We dig deeper into this issue to find out the answer to these questions.

Emily Ekins, from the CATO Institute, spoke on Blaze TV to explain why many millennials are socialist and it is because they do not have an accurate picture of what it really is. “Young people today don’t know what the word (socialism) means. They don’t know what it meant during the Cold War; they don’t know what the technical definition is, so for them, they think of socialism as just being Scandinavia which is a much bigger social welfare state.” She also says that Scandinavia is not actually a socialist country.

Ekins continues, “It’s interesting because Tea Party supporters are the most likely group to be able to accurately define socialism when asked to. For instance, the actual definition of socialism is something like government ownership of the means of production…57% of Tea Party supports could answer that correctly. Only 16% of millennials could and only about…20% of Democrats could define it correctly. For whatever reason Republicans have a better understanding as to what socialism is.”

It is important to understand that Scandinavia is a democracy that has a generous heart and wants to help people out. America also has a generous heart and is the most generous country in the world! Americans can’t compare to these other small countries who may be able to do more for their citizens because it is on a much smaller scale. America has a population of 350 million! For example, when compared to Canada at only 38 million. We really need to have American citizens educated on these truths, and we could see a huge change in hearts.

What is the definition of socialism? Merriam Webster defines it as any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods; a system of society or group living in which there is no private property; a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state. This reminds us of the country of China where everything is owned by the government including the Church! Most of the Church must hide and meet in homes, and when they are found out, the government will take a bulldozer and destroy the house because they own the land.

Next, we look at students who are asking for forgiveness for student debt among other things. These students are participating in a million-student march because they want top earners to pay their tuition. One student spoke on Cavuto Coast to Coast on Fox News about what these students are demanding. Keely Millen is the million-student march national organizer. Neil Cavuto asks some specific questions to Millen as to what the students are wanting, and she answers, “The million-student march is a movement for a more equitable and fair system of education as opposed to the really corporate model that we have right now. So, the three core demands of the national day of action are 1. Free public college; 2. A cancellation of student debt; 3. A $15 an hour minimum wage for people who work on the campus.”

Cavuto asks her how this all will be paid. Millen answers not very confident that it would be 1% of society that are hoarding their wealth and that they are causing this catastrophe that students are facing. What this young woman doesn’t realize when you look at the world’s wealth, she is a part of the top 1% of society! It is a tragedy that universities are teaching our children lies, and in turn, once the students realize this, there will be much anger against the schools.

Dr. Thomas Sowell, an American economist, and social theorist shares with us his view on millennials and socialism and why millennials are buying into this agenda. First Dr. Sowell is asked what his opinion is on this quote made by Bernie Sanders, “While there are some great corporations, trying to do the right thing, in my view—and I say this very seriously—greed of the billionaire class, the greed of Wall Street is destroying the lives of millions of Americans.”

Dr. Sowell’s responds, “It’s astonishing but I think even more astonishing is how many people voted for Bernie Sanders at a time wherein socialist Venezuela people are starving. They are breaking into stores in desperation to get food. They are crossing the borders into other countries to stave off starvation. In a country that has one of the largest suppliers of oil…people are so utterly insulated from facts. The fact that Bernie Sanders paints a very beautiful picture is all that matters.”

At VFNtv we have people writing us from Venezuela and asking for prayer and have told us if the police come onto a bus they can take their money, rape them and can do whatever they want to. Thankfully the citizens of Venezuela have voted in a new president, and the country is in the process of getting Nicolas Maduro out of office so the new president Juan Guaido can take his place and help turn this country around!

Brazil is one such country that has been under socialism and Felipe Moura Brasil; a journalist explains with PragerU how his country has failed under socialism. “Many American millennials seems to be drawn to socialism. They came out in big numbers for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 presidential primaries. They rail against capitalism at their college campuses. They wear Chu Guevara t-shirts to signal their socialist virtue.” Brasil shares how he knows a lot about socialism since he lives in Brazil and even works for a popular magazine in his country.

“In the early 2000s Brazil’s economy was growing rapidly. The government had enacted economic and monetary reforms and divested holdings in some state-run companies giving the private sector more room to breathe. Inflation, a chronic problem in Brazil, was dramatically reduced. Foreign investors poured into the country eager to catch a portion of our expanding economy.” He says that the future looked promising, but today the economy is destroyed! Unemployment and debt are huge, and politicians are being investigated for the largest scandal of fraud and corruption in Brazil’s history. He shares what happened to cause this.

“In 2002 a socialist politician named Lula da Silva ran for the presidency. He was a socialist but painted himself as a modern, cool kind of socialist. He would be the politician who would heal national divisions and unite everyone…but the old message about the need for income redistribution to decrease inequality was still there.” All the media, elite and famous assured the public that if the money were transferred from the wealthy to the poor, the poor would be richer!

“But the only ones who got rich were Lula and his corporate political friends. It only got worse under his successor Dilma Rousseff. The socialist increased government spending, deficits, and debt. They called it a stimulus. They increased the minimum wage and the benefits of social progress. They call it social justice. They increased the salaries and retirement benefits of the civil service; they called it investing in the future. They handed out thousands of jobs in the government and state-owned companies as favors to their political allies, and they called it good governance.” He continues to share how this worked for a while and that, “Socialism always works at the beginning.” But government spending kept getting higher and higher and the economy fell. From 2008 to 2015 government spending was 4x higher than the tax revenue the country was receiving. Their economy was found to be one of the worst in the world!

“Economically and morally the almost 15 years of socialist policies have greatly harmed Brazil. We also remain among the world’s leader in murder and robbery, and we rank near the bottom of industrialized nations in terms of education and healthcare. Americans take it for granted that they can be born into the lower class and reach the middle or even upper class. Many Brazilians take it for granted that they can’t. More and more Brazilians see that capitalism and limited government are the only way forward.”

Many students are being taught to embrace socialism and to believe the lie that socialism is a good thing for America! It destroyed Brazil! But now there is good news for Brazil because a new president has been elected Jair Bolsonaro, and he is said to be like President Donald Trump. It matters who our leaders are and in America, we lead the world!

One man said communism and socialism are the biggest temptations to a person’s flesh because many don’t want to work. We can look at the American dream though and see that working hard and learning how to do what we need to do can make that American dream come to fruition! HGTV Reality Star Joanne Gaines from the Show Fixer Upper Shares the Amazing Testimony of Trusting God with Her Dreams

Many people may have seen the show Fixer Upper on HGTV, and the star is Joanna Gaines. She shares her encouraging testimony and how God led her to open her business Magnolia.

Joanna shares an experience she had as a little girl. She had an insecurity that she wasn’t good enough but as she grew up, she grew out of those insecurities. She talks about how she heard God speak to her. “I remember…I heard Him specifically say, “Joanna I have a calling for you, you are going to have a platform one day.” And I remember thinking what does that even mean?” God also spoke to her and said, “There’s gonna come a time where I’m gonna say for you to go and I’m gonna need you to step out and go.”

She shares how it is important to let God speak into our lives and walk in the truth that He tells us. Difference between a Democracy and a Republic

The government in America is not to be our enemy because we have a representative government, and it should be our friend. Through the voting process, we select our friends and neighbors into the government positions. Unfortunately, our country is extremely divided right now. A Gallup poll states that 50% of people believe that the U.S. government is in an immediate threat. Why is it like this? We don’t want this percentage to get higher, so we need to find out what is going on that has caused Americans to think that the government is our enemy.

When we look at the United States, it is not a democracy but a republic. To put it simply a democracy is to have the majority. If democracy is, in fact, the case, that means that the minority loses their rights to what the majority desires. To understand the republic, James Madison shared a simple understanding of a republic. He says it this way, “The people would naturally divide themselves into groups, factions, factions would have different interests, different beliefs, and different desires. These many different factions over a large extended republic would prevent a majority of citizens coming together to oppress a minority.”

We must be alert about what is going on in America and find out why we are losing our liberties. Prager University expounds on this subject with Professor Robert George. “How did the framers of the Constitution of the United States seek to preserve liberty and prevent tyranny?”

Professor George explains a misunderstanding of the Constitution, “which has led to a serious erosion of our freedom.”

“The power grab the federalist feared, the national government taking more and more control over more and more Americans life took place…now, most Americans think of the Supreme Court as the ultimate arbiter of almost every social and political dispute…justices have plainly overstepped the bounds of their authority by creating law from the bench. Thereby further expanding their own power and that of the national government. Moreover, the Supreme Court has done little to stop the executive and legislative branches of the national government from un-constitutionally overreaching.”

“We’ve drifted a long way from the original vision of the founders. The further we have drifted the more powerful the national government has grown, and the less free Americans have become. Freedom can be taken away, but it can also be given away out of sheer ignorance. If we Americans, we the people, want to get some of that freedom back we need to read America’s founding documents. All the freedom we ever wanted is there.”
