America is a Democratic Republic NOT a Democracy

In America, we have heard people say over and over that we are a Democracy, but we are not! We are a Democratic Republic, and the entire founding of America is based on this. It is even quoted in our Pledge of Allegiance! We see that people are trying to push America to be a Democracy which would end in a mob rule and in other countries who have put a Democracy in place ultimately end up with a dictator as their leader. So, what is the difference between a Democracy and a Democratic Republic? The Real News Network breaks this down for us and gives us a better understanding of the difference between these two. First off America is NOT a Democracy. In America, lawmakers draft a bill and vote on a bill. At that point, they let the people know what the decision is and if there is a new law. In a Democracy, a law would be written and then voted on by the people, and the majority wins. Everything is based on majority rules. “When the Founders (of America) created our Constitution and our Bill of Rights, they established a form of government, and they actually determined that a Democracy was the worst form of government. Many of the founders said that Democracy was nothing more than mob rule and so they were against Democracy. Instead, felt the correct form of government for this free nation was a Republic.”

The next question asked is what is a republic? “A republic is a form of government where the people will go to the polls to elect men and women who represent them. And those elected leaders vote and create our laws. The people don’t vote directly on laws that affect their life; rather it’s lawmakers who are chosen among the people…they represent the majority of society. The other thing that is important to understand is the distinction between Democracy and a Republic is that a Democracy is the rule of man, man ruling over each other which our founding fathers believed turned into mob rule. A Republic is the rule of law. Laws are formed and created…and then those laws are never superseded by mob rule or superseded by elected officials. They are all under law! “

President Donald Trump is a man who is upholding the laws and the people who want a Democracy-run government have organized mobs against the laws and authority. We are called to follow the authorities that are established because God establishes them!

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.” Romans 13:1-2

God is a God of authority! We must walk in the fear of the Lord as we follow the authority God has established in our lives.

Our rights come from God. When you have a country, which is controlled by socialism or communism, then that is a people who have surrendered their rights, and it is saying that your rights come from government. In America, our Constitution represents the fact that our rights come from God! As an American why would we not want to acknowledge the freedoms and rights that we have? One way we do that is the Pledge of Allegiance which is declared at sports events but has been removed from many schools! Why would we not want our kids to say this?

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

We don’t want a divided country; America is the United States not the Divided States! Anything divided will fall, and right now there is much division, but we can choose to unite together once again.

“If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” Mark 3:24-25

We can look at how many nations have fallen because of division, and we must pray for this division to end in America so that our nation will not fall.

Next, we look at the original intent of the U.S. Constitution where Ryan Hill breaks it down for us and how it started. Be sure to subscribe to Hill’s YouTube channel HERE as he also does excellent work of sharing the truth!

Hill reminds us that less than 100 men were the ones that we must thank for the U.S. Constitution, which includes all laws and instructions of how our government runs when it was written and voted into law. “Now that single document, still known today as our U.S. Constitution, remains the ultimate law of the land. The most sacred code we have for how the government should look.”

Hill further breaks down how the central government was originally set up and how it is split into three different branches, Legislative, Judicial, and Executive. “Each branch would have its own unique powers and with the power divided three ways the central government would never get too strong. The Legislative branch, made up of two houses full of elected representatives of the different states, would come up with proposals for law, known as bills. The Executive branch made up of the President and his or her closest advisors, a group called the Cabinet, would receive those suggestions for law and either veto or reject them or sign off on them, turning bills into law. Judges from the Judicial branch would settle any arguments over how individual laws should be applied. They also reserved the right to overrule any laws that violated the Constitution. The way that each branch puts a limit on what others can do is called the system of checks and balances, and as one further limit on the central government, individual citizens are able to vote on their choice of representatives for the Legislative branch and for the President in the Executive branch.”

The delegates who voted in the Constitution knew that American citizens would also have good ideas so they made it where future Americans could make changes to the Constitution which are called Amendments. Surprisingly right after the Constitution had been approved and the central government met for the first time in the year 1788 the Legislative branch, known as Congress, received suggestions to make amendments immediately! “A lot of people were still afraid that the central government would be too strong. Of all the changes suggested by the states, Congress voted to approve ten of them as amendments to the Constitution. Today we refer to these first ten amendments as the Bill of Rights. They are a shield protecting you from mistreatment by the government. Among other things they guarantee you the individual the freedom to believe what you want, to say what you want, to own a weapon if you want, and to be defended in court if someone accuses you of a crime. Without this Bill of Rights and the opportunity to create other amendments in the future who knows if the Constitution would have survived until today?”

Thanks to the American citizens who stood up for our individual rights, we have the Bill of Rights in place which protects us from the government controlling us and our individual freedoms! God is a God of authority! We must walk in the fear of the Lord as we follow the authority God has established in our lives.

Difference between a Democracy and a Republic

The government in America is not to be our enemy but we have a representative government, and it should be our friend. Through the voting process, we select our friends and neighbors into the government positions. Unfortunately, our country is very divided right now. A Gallup poll states that 50% of people that the U.S. government is an immediate threat. Why is it like this? We don’t want this percentage to get higher, so we need to find out what is going on that has caused American’s to think that the government is our enemy.

When we look at the United States, it is not a democracy but a republic. To put it simply a democracy is to have the majority. If democracy is, in fact, the case, that means that the minority loses their rights to what the majority desires. To understand the republic, James Madison shared a simple understanding of a republic. He says it this way, “The people would naturally divide themselves into groups, factions, factions would have different interests, different beliefs, and different desires. These many different factions over a large extended republic would prevent a majority of citizens coming together to oppress a minority.”

We must be alert about what is going on in America and find out why we are losing our liberties. Prager University expounds on this subject with Professor Robert George. “How did the framers of the Constitution of the United States seek to preserve liberty and prevent tyranny?”

Professor George explains how there has been a misunderstanding of the Constitution, “which has led to a serious erosion of our freedom.”

“The power grab the federalist feared, the national government taking more and more control over more and more American’s life took place…now, most American’s think of the Supreme Court as the ultimate arbiter of almost every social and political dispute…justices have plainly overstepped the bounds of their authority by creating law from the bench. Thereby further expanding their own power and that of the national government. Moreover, the Supreme Court has done little to stop the executive and legislative branches of the national government from un-constitutionally overreaching.”

“We’ve drifted a long way from the original vision of the founders. The further we have drifted the more powerful the national government has grown, and the less free American’s have become. Freedom can be taken away, but it can also be given away out of sheer ignorance. If we Americans, we the people, want to get some of that freedom back we need to read America’s founding documents. All the freedom we ever wanted is there.”

Many people may have seen the show Fixer Upper on HGTV, and the star is Joanna Gaines. She shares her encouraging testimony and how God led her to open her business Magnolia.

Joanna shares an experience she had as a little girl. She had an insecurity that she wasn’t good enough but as she grew up, she grew out of those insecurities. She talks about how she heard God speak to her. “I remember…I heard Him specifically say, “Joanna I have a calling for you, you are going to have a platform one day.” And I remember thinking what does that even mean?” God also spoke to her and said, “There’s gonna come a time where I’m gonna say for you to go and I’m gonna need you to step out and go.”

She shares how it is important to let God speak into our lives and walk in the truth that He tells us. President Trump Nominates Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court a Strong Constitutionalist

We have been praying for years, as have others, concerning the judges in America, and God is answering our prayers! First with Judge Neil Gorsuch and now with the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh by President Donald Trump for the United States Supreme Court. President Donald Trump’s remarks during his announcement of this nominee highlight the great value that Judge Kavanaugh will bring to the Supreme Court. “Judge Kavanaugh has impeccable credentials, unsurpassed qualifications, and a proven commitment to equal justice under the law.”

In the Judicial Branch of the United States, there are nine justices which make it very important who is nominated into the open seats. We believe and have seen in recent times the Judicial Branch has been manipulated to pass certain laws and has been used incorrectly when the legislative branch should be who is writing the laws for America. Judge Kavanaugh reveres the United States Constitution and through what he has said he will follow the Constitution and help bring America back to its original intent. He shared his values on this in his nomination speech. “My judicial philosophy is straightforward, a Judge must be independent, and must interpret the law, not make the law. A Judge must interpret statutes as written, and a Judge must interpret the Constitution as written, formed by history, tradition, and precedent. I will tell each Senator that I revere the Constitution. I believe that an independent Judiciary is the crown jewel of our constitutional republic. If confirmed by the Senate I will keep an open mind in every case, and I will always strive to preserve the Constitution of the United States and the American rule of law.” It is so exciting to have someone who wants to stay true to the Constitution which is what holds America together! Wikipedia reports that “Brett Michael Kavanaugh (born February 12, 1965) is an American judge and former White House Staff Secretary. He currently serves as a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He was White House Staff Secretary during the Presidency of George W. Bush. Kavanaugh has been nominated to become an Associate Justice for the United States Supreme Court. Kavanaugh was nominated to the D.C. Appeals Court by Bush in 2003. His confirmation hearings were contentious and stalled for three years over charges of partisanship. Kavanaugh was ultimately confirmed in May 2006 after a series of negotiations between Democratic and Republican senators.^[4][5][6] Kavanaugh was nominated by President Donald Trump on July 9, 2018, to become an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, following the vacancy created by the pending retirement of Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy.”

Jay Sekulow with, American Center for Law and Justice, shares his remarks concerning the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh. “Brett Cavanaugh is a brilliant lawyer, Judge Cavanaugh is, has been, and continues to be a brilliant judge, and he is going to be Justice Cavanaugh, a brilliant Justice of the Supreme Court.”

You may have the question of what is the Supreme Court? The U.S. government has three branches. The Legislative branch writes the laws, the Executive branch enforces the laws, and the Judicial branch interprets the laws to decide if they are Constitutional. The Judicial branch includes local, state, and regional courts. The Supreme Court is the highest court and the most important court in the entire country. When the lower courts cannot decide on a case, it can be passed on to the Supreme Court to make a final decision. The Supreme Court is comprised of nine justices or judges and is appointed by the President and approved by the Senate. Justices serve for life. A decision is made when a majority of the justices agree on the outcome. They only choose the most important cases to review as they receive over 10,000 cases a year and they end up only reviewing around 80 cases in a year. Now that we know how the Supreme Court Judiciary branch works we can see how some people are panicking with the new judges that are being appointed because this branch is getting back to its original intent put in place by America’s founding fathers. We want the people in the house to create the laws which is how it is supposed to be done as they represent us individually!

We need to pray for Judge Kavanaugh to be voted in by the Senate as he will help to bring America back to her original intent. Your prayers are being heard and answered.
