education
LISTEN NOW! (Or WATCH FULL PROGRAM!) As Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos has had quite a busy schedule in her new position and is impacting the school districts across America. Everybody wants to have something to say about our children. It is important to stand behind and support Secretary DeVos as she is doing an outstanding job. She recently held an event at the White House for School Choice and taking the time to recognize exemplary students.
“This Administration remains committed to serving all students, especially the most vulnerable. As we’ve seen in states around the country, these students particularly benefit from school choice programs.” As she points out, there are more than 6,300 charter schools which impact more than 3 million students. These charter schools are so important for the families whose children attend them. As Secretary DeVos explains, “Parents want their children to have the option to attend these schools and others that fit their individual needs, for the simple reason that they’re not satisfied with their current school. And they believe access to options can give their child a better opportunity to learn and thrive.” Secretary DeVos didn’t get very far in comments as she was warmly interrupted by both the Vice President and the President.
President Trump continued to speak on the impact that these charter schools are having with many families. “The opportunity scholarship program that we’re funding allows families in the inner city of our nation’s capital to leave failing public schools and attend a private school, making an extraordinary difference in these incredible young lives.” The President understands the important effect on impacting education for this next generation so that it is not delayed for another generation.
President Trump gives the microphone back to Secretary DeVos and she describes the outstanding achievements of some of these exemplary students. See the full comments from the White House from Secretary DeVos and President Trump, how School Choice is effecting so many, and so much more. LISTEN NOW! (or WATCH FULL PROGRAM!) Trey Gowdy has garnered quite the reputation as an outspoken Congressman with values and morals as he speaks out for the many issues that are foundations in our nation. Congressman Gowdy continually shared these words of values and morals when he spoke to a packed auditorium at Liberty University.
As he addressed all of those in attendance, he comments that some may believe that our country is headed in the wrong direction. With this in mind, he points to an interesting moment in history: The Melia Dialogue. It was a dialogue between two people, the Melos and the Athenians. On the verge of war, the Athenians comprised an army that dwarfed the Melians. The Melians refused to cower down and maintained their resolute efforts to wage war against the Athenians; all the way to their entire destruction. With this in mind, Congressman Gowdy asks this revealing question: “What do you believe in enough that you would march forward even if you knew that you were marching forward to a certain defeat?” Additionally, he asks this series of follow up questioning; “Which do you value more; truth or freedom? Unity or diversity?”
Congressman Gowdy refers to his extensive experience in politics and the many dialogues and conversations that he has had with others, never once resorting to attempting to convince another that something was wrong. “Do you believe in the respect for the rule of law?” As he points out, it is this rule of law that levels the playing field for every citizen of America. No matter the income or economic status, everyone should abide by the speed limit, regardless of who you are. “What do we believe? And why do we believe the things that we do?” If we as the Church are going to have an effective witness to others, we must know why we hold the convictions in our hearts that we do. But, as Congressman Gowdy continues, having beliefs isn’t enough. We must be able to communicate.
“If you can’t communicate what you believe, you’re not going to be very successful. So, you need a message, and that message better be “Why,” why you believe, what you believe. But you also need a very effective manner or method of communication.” As he continues to share from his life experiences, anytime we seek to communicate with others who may not share our beliefs, one method that we should never attempt to use, is insult. “Insulting people does not work if your goal is to persuade”. But, what does work is the ability to establish and maintain a relationship with another human being. “The person has to know that you care about them.”
Congressman Gowdy continues to share about those in his close circle that has had a great impact on his life; Senator Marco Rubio, and Senator Tim Scott. Now, granted these may be names that some recognize or others may not. In our own states and neighborhoods are streets of well-known names, maybe airports named after historic figures in our nation’s history. But, as Congressman Gowdy points out, we can live influential lives, not by attempting to live like those who are remembered on street signs throughout America, but in a way, that influences those to our left and right. Congressman Gowdy shares these encouraging words, “If you are waiting around for another Ronald Reagan, or another Martin Luther King Jr., or another Abraham Lincoln, you are going to have a long, miserable wait. It’s not going to happen. If you’re waiting on a knight or knightess to ride in on a white horse and change whatever you think ails our country or your school or your community or your family, it’s not going to happen.” With these words in mind, Congressman Gowdy shares the words that empower every American to live a life that will bring change. “I’m not asking you to be Reagan. I’m not asking you to be Lincoln. I’m just asking you to live a quiet life of conviction and virtue and actually live out what you profess to believe, and if you can do that, you’ll be a leader, you’ll be persuasive, and your generation will get this country headed back in the direction that you want it to be in.”
What about you? What do you believe in? Do you choose truth or freedom? Unity or Diversity? Do we live in a way that lives out the convictions that we believe in or just say that we do, exercising hypocrisy instead of authenticity? America is not a perfect land, nor are the people within it perfect, but we do have the freedoms that allow us to live out our daily lives in accordance to the values and beliefs that we hold near and true in our hearts. In our homes, we should each have a Bible, The Declaration of Independence, and The Constitution, because this is what we are ultimately fighting for in America. Be encouraged as you see the entire speech from Congressman Gowdy, how we can live out a life of inspiration and action, and so much more. Also, shared in this segment: education, Liberty University, Dinesh D’Souza, persuasion, hypocrisy, The Potomac River, drowning, rope ladder, Congressman Trey Gowdy Jefferson, marriage, the rule of law, conviction, and surrender. Malcom Muggeridge’s Words from 1970 Ring True today, Ravi Zacharias
LISTEN NOW! WATCH FULL PROGRAM! Ravi Zacharias is sharing the Gospel all over the world through his ministry Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. As he shares, the priority is the Gospel lightly sprinkled with apologetics. He has a great gift for apologetics and expressing the message of the Gospel. He recently quoted Malcolm Muggeridge and his comments on the 20th Century Man.
“It is difficult to resist the conclusion that 20th Century Man has decided to abolish himself. Tired of the struggle to be himself, he has created boredom out of his own affluence, impotence out of his erotomania, and vulnerability out of his own strength. He himself blows the trumpet that brings the walls of his own city crashing down.
Until at last, having educated himself in imbecility; having drugged and polluted himself into stupefaction, he keels over a weary-battered old Brontosaurus and becomes extinct.”
What is surprisingly intriguing about these words is how accurate they are to today’s generation. Zacharias continues to add to these words by pointing out how we have become the essence of each of these observations. We thought the 60’s were bad. It has only gotten worse. The enemy knows how deeply valuable and important family is and has done everything in his arsenal to destroy any recollection or similarity to it. Now, we no longer know our own gender, we no longer know who we are, or how to relate as family. In this dire observation of the 20th Century Man, be encouraged as you are reminded of the hope that God has given us in the Body of Christ, and so much more. Also shared in this segment: erotomania, impotence, education, ordinary choices, Cloward & Piven, abortion, sexual revolution, and blessings. Greg and John shared in this segment.

“The Bible is one of the Founding Documents in America”, Conversation with Rick Green and David Barton on the impact of the Bible in America
LISTEN NOW! As we look at many of the headlines happening across America, we see the Bible and its teachings being drawn further and further away from the classrooms atmosphere. But, when we look at the beginnings of education in America, and America itself, we begin to see a reality that drastically contradicts what is happening today.
LISTEN NOW! As it stands, we currently have a Presidential Candidate who is proudly saying, “I am a socialist”. Without the understanding of what Socialism is, we lose the impact of what that means. Socialism is a society where everything comes from government, not God. America works because we are One Nation Under God, not under government. Does it matter if we choose for government to be our god rather than God being our God? By looking in the Bible, we can see clear examples of those who chose not to follow God’s design of leadership, and how it turned out for them.
Samuel was a man that God raised up to lead the nation of Israel. As Samuel began getting older, his sons began leading as well. When his sons did not lead as desired by the Israelites, their leadership was no longer wanted. In fact, 1 Samuel 8:5 in The Message Bible shares the account of how the Israelites responded, “…Here’s what we want you to do: Appoint a king to rule us, just like everybody else.” Does this sound like much of what has been proclaimed throughout America today? Instead of desiring to follow God’s order, God’s ways, people are willingly choosing to follow the ideas of Socialism.
Distraught at the people’s response, Samuel took their request to God in prayer. God responds in 1 Samuel 8:7, “Go ahead and do what they’re asking. They are not rejecting you. They’ve rejected me as their King.”People today say that they want a strong government, but the consequences of a strong government are not desirable. How God responds to Samuel as to what will happen if these desired “kings” are put into place, may shock you. 1 Samuel 8:10-18 details the future events for the Israelites:
Just because we get what we want, does not necessarily mean that we will like what we get. Understand this; if someone is taxed 100% for their labor, they are a slave. Someone who is demanding that taxes are increased are demanding the percentage of slavery be increased in America. If we allow our leaders to turn our attention away from the Original Intent of how this nation was birthed, and towards how other nations are run, we are allowing our nation to be turned away from God. In these moments, God gave us an answer as to how to respond. Hear the full story about socialism in the past, in the present day, the plans that God has for us, and so much more. Also shared in this segment: oppression, slavery, Communism, Capitalism, taxes, construction, unemployment, Russia, healthcare, education, employment, repentance, and humility.
