Success It’s a Mind Game: Ohio Center for Sports Psychology Mental Skills for Success Part 2

If you knew the secret to success, would you want it? Yes! The secret to success is your mind! Success is a mind game. If you can’t win in your mind, then you can’t win anywhere else! Winning is a matter of your mind and your thoughts. We look at sports figures to see how we can be successful in our lives by what we think. This is necessary for your success!

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 23:7

You win in your mind, or you lose in your mind. This is why it is important what you speak over your children. They need to hear positive things spoken to them, and you should speak blessings and destiny over them! You will be surprised how this can change your child’s life as they have words of life spoken over them. Help your children reach their destiny!

This is Part Two of Success it’s a Mind Game, and we continue with mental skills that athletes use from Ohio Center for Sports Psychology. These are mental skills that anyone can use! The fourth mental skill is to deal effectively with people. No matter how successful you are, you cannot do it alone. We all need people around us, and we need the skill of how to deal with people the right way. As a leader, business owner, you need to share your vision with your team and communicate with your team. Build them up and inspire them to carry your vision out! Dealing effectively with people is a God thing because in the Bible it says; however, we treat people is how we treat God. Many times, people get skipped over for a job or lose their business because they can’t deal with people! As an employee, if you work effectively with people and you help other people succeed while meeting the needs of the business, you are the future leader in that company. If you do have trouble dealing with people, recognize that you need people for your business to be successful, and know that Jesus loves people. He loves you, and you are called to love and care for other people too!

The fifth mental skill is to use positive self-talk! It may sound basic, but it is not at all. You may need to ask those around you to see if you are positive in what you speak. Speaking positively is not only for your success but as a believer, we are called to impact others as we bring light into our conversations, which can only be done by staying positive. How do you speak to yourself in your mind? You need to write things down that are true things that God says about you. Write down your vision so that you can remind yourself of why you are doing what you are doing. Greg shares that he recorded what God says about him and what God has shown him that will take place. He listens to this to remind him of who he is and why he is doing what he is doing! We all need positive self-talk. Summarize what God has shown you so that you can have a short reminder of what He has said so you can quickly be reminded and empowered to stay positive. It will help you to prepare and make good decisions to keep moving towards your vision. Speaking God’s Word over yourself will not return void! Memorizing God’s Word leads to meditation, and meditation leads to it manifesting in your life!

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8 ESV

The sixth mental skill is to use positive mental imagery. According to The Conversation, Nicole Forrester, a Canadian high jumper, says, “As an Olympian, imagery was one of the mental skills I relied on the most. In my preparation for competition, I would spend hours envisioning what I wanted to execute and how it should feel. I would even create bad scenarios that could occur, feeling the pressure and discomfort, and rehearse what my appropriate response would be. When it was time to compete, I felt ready for any and every situation. This was easily the hardest area of my preparation but something critical to perform well when it counted most.” This is important because if you can’t see it, then you can’t have it! Visualizing what you need to do has been proven to bring you success.

As reported by Conover Life Skills, Judd Blaslotto, who is a University of Chicago researcher, wanted to prove a theory about mental rehearsal and visualization. He took three groups of students to find out how many basketball free throws they could make. The three groups practiced for 30 days. Group one practiced every day for one hour, group two visualized making free throws, and group three did nothing. The results were that group one improved by 24%, group two by 23%, and group three did not improve at all. So just by visualizing group two met success almost the exact same success as physically practicing!

This takes practice so you must see yourself doing what you need to do, and the more you can see it, the more you will be able to do it! As you begin to see yourself being successful, your faith will line up! The universe is designed by God to respond to bold unwavering faith!

The seventh mental skill is to manage anxiety effectively. Things will happen in our life that will rock our faith, but we can’t give in! You must not give in to the spirit of fear as the Bible tells us to be anxious for nothing. God is in control, and we need to trust Him with every outcome. Also, as you begin to focus on other people, you will realize that your fear begins to leave because fear causes you to look inward but as you think of others above yourself that fear will be gone!

The eighth mental skill is to manage your emotions effectively. Everything that happens to you, you first have an emotion about it. Ask yourself what you are feeling right now, and why? Manage your mood because it can get you going in the wrong direction and can affect your destiny. Get in a good mood, having your emotions in the right place, by having the right thoughts!

The first success strategy we look at is that YOU ARE THE ONE TO DRIVE THE VISION! Tamara Lohan, the founder and CTO of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, shares this wisdom. “You are the one to drive the vision. You can delegate the tasks, but the vision and the purpose of the company has to be yours.”

The first thing you must have is a vision. It is easy to get excited about starting a business, but an idea is not a vision. A business does not just happen, it takes work, and to have a successful one, you must have a vision. A vision is what you are going to do and how you will accomplish it. This will drive you!

“And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:2-3 ESV

The vision needs to be easy enough that other people can run with it. It can be written in a few lines; very specific and direct. It should motivate you and remind you of why you are running your business! A vision will also bring order to your business, and since you are the one who drives the vision if you see disorder in your employees, then you need to evaluate things. Maybe you forgot the vision, or you are not sharing your vision with your employees. You can add it to your team meetings maybe once a month to share your vision.

A question to ask yourself is how big is your dream, and how badly do you want it? You must want your dream more than the next person and more than the pain, struggles, and disappointments. Once you refuse to quit, your odds go up dramatically for success because if you quit it is 100% chance that you will fail.

Sahar Hashemi, the co-founder of Coffee Republic, shares the next success strategy that you must STEP INTO YOUR CUSTOMER’S SHOES! “Stepping into your customer’s shoes is where all the opportunities are there. All the answers are there; headaches begging to be solved are there. Keep your focus always on the customer no matter how big your business gets.”

When you step into your customer’s shoes, picture how you want to be treated. What problems do you solve for your customers? Think about how you would feel if that problem was solved for you. This is empathizing with your customers, which will show them that you care. Even Jesus Christ empathized with us by coming to the earth and living as a man. Even though He didn’t sin, he understood us and knew what it was like to walk in a sinful state and now He can explain us to Father God.

In the same way, you need to get to know your customer and build that relationship with them. What will differentiate you from other businesses? It is your customer service! It is how you value your customer and how you verbally communicate with them to make them feel special. Every employee must also recognize that the customer is the whole reason why they have their job. Businesses that do this will succeed! This will also put your business as one that people will refer their friends and family to because you have proven that you value your customers — empathizing with your customers matters!

VFNKB is here to encourage and inspire you! God has called us all to reach success and has gifted us and expects us to succeed. When we commit our plans to the Lord, He will establish those plans! Lance Wallnau shares wisdom on the importance of controlling our interruptions that can come from people and our relationships. We also dig deeper to give you strategies for your success.

Lance shares that what is unique to us right now is the quality of the connection we have with people. He says that where we are in the world, it is not what we know but who we know! “We are in a very toxic culture; we are in a spiritual warzone…” He continues to share that he has found scientific data that supports the fact that the right relationships create a buffer around us and the negativity that comes at us. When people were agitated from inanimate objects, they did not retain the toxicity from that stressful moment. But when people were agitated by a human, it had a 50% larger impact which took 50% more time to get over that agitation. “The secret to us to be able to do what we have to do is creating the emotional environments that are supporting enough and nurturing enough that we can create a habitation to support exactly what you are creating. It is like a wall that protects, like a membrane.” When we allow people to interrupt us, it has lingering effects. This is why we must be careful who we allow to speak into our lives. We are going to cover several strategies that will help you to create this wall to protect you from toxicity from others.

The first thing we must do is to realize that if someone does not support our future, then why would we give them our presence? It is important for us to understand this if we want to be successful. We, of course, are called to love all people because people are important, but we don’t have to have every person speaking in our ear, being in our presence, if they don’t support our future. We will have interruptions in our life as we work, but we can schedule interruptions. If someone needs to talk with you, then you can ask them to speak with you at a certain time so you can finish whatever task you are currently working on. If that person cares about your future, they will be okay with waiting for you to complete your task before speaking with you.

Next, we must realize we owe no one an audience. We only have 24 hours in a day. Some people only want to talk about their problems but don’t want a solution to their problems. Because of this, we must be careful who we allow to speak into our lives. Words are spirit. Someone that downloads their problems to you just to talk, they don’t care about your destiny. We need people in our lives who care about our destiny and where our business, our lives, are going. This is the type of person that you want to insulate yourself from as Lance was speaking about. Also, a person may try to get to you through others if they can’t get to you directly. If someone is doing this, you must have those that are around you educated to know that if someone is trying to get to you through them, they need to tell you so that you can talk to that person directly. Another reason why we must be careful who speaks into our lives, as we touched on earlier, is that words are spirit. There may be someone in your family who is destructive with the words they speak. You don’t have to allow them to speak into your ears! You can love them from a distance. Also, you do not have to listen to secular media! News is not what it used to be, and neither is other media and entertainment. Sitcom shows and movies are portraying a narrative that is not good. In America, it is a narrative that is looking to change us, but we can choose to turn off media with that wrong narrative and only watch/listen to media that is from a Biblical perspective. An example would be VFNKB‘s VFNtv, which is about today’s news and current events and how you can act in it. It will help you to succeed by filtering the media that you take in, which will position you to produce as Jesus spoke of in the Parable of the Sower.

When we work from this place of success, we are a light influencer in the seven mountains of culture. If we don’t have success as a light influencer, then darkness will be what is influencing that place in that mountain of culture. As a believer, we must allow our light to shine in every mountain of culture, not just the Faith Mountain because we are called to make disciples of all nations. If we only shine our light where other believers are, then we are not doing what Jesus called us to do, to make disciples. Jesus was a carpenter for 30 years, which would mean that He worked in the Business Mountain before He entered the ministry for three years. We can be challenged to be successful in this and to be a light in the mountain of culture that we are called to. Kamal Saleem, who was a former radical Jihadist before his salvation, said that Jihadists and Radical Islamists are working to influence the seven mountains of culture. They want to disciple a nation. As a believer, we are light, and when we are successful, we can bring a light influence in our mountain of culture, which in turn will lead others to Jesus Christ. The higher your success, the larger your sphere of influence is!

As you work to have an impact in your mountain of culture, we want to empower you to be successful. It is hard to develop the relationships that you need that are for you and your future success. Balancing the Trade Deficit and Bringing Jobs to America! President Trump Shares RECORD BREAKING numbers with Business Leaders from America and Japan

As President Trump continues the full-steam ahead progression in his Presidency, he continues to bring his wealth of knowledge in the business world to the relationships with world leaders as well as to the businesses in America. This couldn’t be exemplified greater than his recent speech to US and Japanese Business Leaders when he visited Tokyo, Japan. While President Trump continues his 5 Country Asian Trip, he is representing America in an outstanding way and strengthening the bonds with our allies.

The President has continued to underscore the importance of improving the relationship of trade agreements with Japan for the betterment of both of our economies. The President isn’t shy to admit that Japan has been fairing better than the United States in this area. “And I have to say, for the last many decades, Japan has been winning. You do know that.” The President continues, “For the, actually, last 70 years, cooperation between our two countries has helped us to pioneer incredible advances in commerce, in science, medicine, and technology.” The President points out that Americans and Japanese have been working alongside one another in a myriad of industries achieving marvelous accolades.

As the President speaks to the room of business leaders, he speaks their language as he addresses the topic that would perk the ear of any business leader, inviting more of their business to America: lowering taxes. The President also addresses some of the realities about doing business in America that is undeniable. “The United States is one of the highest-taxed nations in the world. But it’s also a market like no other; by far, the biggest market in the world. Its numbers are phenomenal over the last — since November 8th, Election Day.” By looking at the record breaking lows of unemployment, and the number of jobs created, increasing signs of improvement in the economy can clearly be seen. As the President describes the gains being experienced in the Stock Market, he expresses just how many times this has happened; “The stock market reached an all-time high on Friday, and that’s the 61st, I believe –something around that number — 61st time that’s happened.”

In the wake of America experiencing 4 different hurricanes making landfall this season, causing massive destruction to Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and other areas, the President points out that the GDP in the United States far exceeded any expectations. As some would expect a 2-2.5 GDP, the most recent numbers are 3.2, according to the President. As the President continues to explain, considering the effects of the hurricanes, this means that we may have been in the area of 4. Absolutely remarkable!

The President changes gears as he points out how the amount of regulations in America is crippling the ability to rebuild our infrastructure. As the President is cutting regulation, a bridge that would take 20 years to build, will now take one year to build, saving millions of dollars in budget expenditures. The President then applies this to the business representatives he is addressing by talking about production plants. “You want to build a factory – most importantly, to the folks in this room — or a plant? You’re going to have your approvals very, very quickly. Now, you may be rejected quickly, too. But that’s okay. If you’re rejected quickly — you don’t want to be rejected at the end of the 17th year.” This wisdom and decisiveness is simply remarkable. The President continues, “When you want to build your auto plants, you will have your approvals almost immediately. When you want to expand your plants, you will have your approvals almost immediately.”

On the topic of building production plants, the President speaks bluntly by asking Japanese auto businesses to build products in America versus building them in Japan and shipping them to America. “And we love it when you build cars — if you’re a Japanese firm, we love it — try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. Is that possible to ask? That’s not rude. Is that rude? I don’t think so.” He then points out how Mazda and Toyota have decided to invest $1.6 Billion in manufacturing plants in the United States which will create 4,000 new jobs. In addition, the President explains how Denso will be investing $1 Billion in Tennessee creating 1,000 new jobs. Each time the President talks about these massive companies he takes the time to leave the podium and personally honor, recognize, and shake the hands of the business leaders. Other companies, such as Broadcomm and Foxconn is also carrying out expansions in America.

It is so exciting to see the President going to the source and handing business agreements with those who make the decisions, the leaders of the businesses. As America has suffered greatly in the area of trade agreements, these days are coming to an end.
