Wounded Warriors Welcomed to White House- President Trump 2019

Imagine you are a young man or woman who feels called to join the military and to serve your country and maybe you are or have already done that for us, which we are grateful for your service! As you make it through boot camp, you are deployed. As you are out on patrol one day you hit an IED, Improvised Explosive Device, and are wounded for life, losing an arm or your legs, Wounded Warriors we call them in America. Heroes who fought for our freedom in America and even for the freedom of others in other countries. President Donald Trump honors those who have been wounded and are a part of the Wounded Warrior Project as he gives them a platform to speak. Be encouraged and thankful for these men and women who have lost much for our freedom!

President Trump begins the speech pointing out the many changes that have taken place in his administration for the military. “With us on stage, today are the Wounded Warriors from the Air Force, the Army, the Navy, the Coast Guard, the National Guard, and the Marine Corps. Each of you is a living testament to the outstanding determination, persistence, and patriotism that made this the greatest nation ever to exist on the face of the Earth.

“And, as you know, we’re spending the biggest number of dollars we’ve ever spent. Not even close. You know that very well, General. Seven hundred billion my first year. I won’t even tell you how much higher than before we got here. And then, $716 [billion], and this year we’re even trying to up it. We’re rebuilding our military like never before. Brand new fighter jets. Brand new ships of all kinds. Every soldier has the best equipment. In the Army, we’re even getting new uniforms and those beautiful new uniforms with the belt. It was a big deal — the belt. And if you think those uniforms were inexpensive, they were very expensive. They were very. But they wanted it, and we got it. We have equipment now like we’ve never had before. We have research going on for the new and greatest equipment in the world. Nobody is even close. Nobody can do what we can do. And we’re at a level that we have really never been. So, a lot of progress has been made.

“When I came in with Mike, we were a depleted armed forces. We were depleted. We had planes that were 50, 60 years old. And we had things going on that you wouldn’t believe, that the General knew; that, General, I think we all knew, and we weren’t happy about it. And we took it and — I’m a big budget person, but there’s one thing more important than the budget — maybe a couple of things — but there’s one thing in particular, and that’s our military and our defense of our nation. Because without the defense of our nation, our budget doesn’t matter. And we have done a real job. And I think when I go to the bases, and I’m with the soldiers and the sailors and everybody, the Marines — we spent a lot of time with Marines the other day. Coast Guard — doing the most advanced icebreaker in the world. They were trying to get it for 20 years. They couldn’t get it. We’re doing it. It is expensive, I will say. Built in the USA, by the way.

“But all of the things that we’re getting — and I think in particular the Air Force, with the planes, we’re ordering vast numbers of F-35 fighter jets. I’ve tried to keep the price as low as possible. I got involved personally. I don’t even know if I’m supposed to do it. I’ll probably get in trouble because I cut the price, you know. But we cut it very substantially. Very, very substantially. And the F-18s and every kind of plane you can think of — the bombers, the tankers. We have the greatest equipment in the world. Everybody wants it, and we only give it to those that are working with us. And they pay for it, by the way. That’s always nice. You know, in the old days, they weren’t paying so much. Now, at least they pay. And they’re happy about it. They respect us again. They respect our country again…”

He continues by expressing his gratitude, “I also extend my deep gratitude to the amazing military spouses and the families that are here today…Without the families, the spouses, it doesn’t work. It doesn’t work. It’s not the same. Your love sustains our warriors and our nation. And we want to thank you so much. You are incredible people.

“We’re also delighted to have a distinguished World War II veteran in attendance: Corporal James Blane, who was wounded in action at the famous Battle of Iwo Jima. And that was a battle…A real hero. We’re honored by your presence. Thank you.

“Tomorrow, the Wounded Warriors onstage with me will complete the final miles of their more than 30-mile Soldier Ride through Maryland and Virginia. On battlegrounds all over the world, these brave patriots risk their lives and shed their blood to defend our nation, our people, and our great American flag. Nobody defends our country like those people — representing all others — but those people in the room today — a very, very special group. Here at home, they’ve beaten back injury — and illness, in some cases — beyond anybody’s wildest imagination, and persevered through pain, and adversity, and hardship. The word “comeback” — greatest comeback — but it’s a word even beyond; it’s just courage. Pure and simple courage. Their legacy of service is a gift to every single American. Through their example, we witness the daily triumph of the human spirit and the unmatched valor of the American patriot.

“Among our Wounded Warriors here today is 23-year-old Justin Day. While clearing towns in Afghanistan of terrorist fighters, in July, Justin stepped on an IED. Not good. Since then, he has endured more than a dozen surgeries, including the amputation of his right leg. Today, Justin continues his recovery at Walter Reed, where, by the way, they do an incredible job. I’m there a lot to say hello to the folks. They do unbelievable work. There is nothing that I’ve ever seen like they do. And they have cutting-edge technology. They have the best doctors. And that’s why I think I’m going to have to be President for many, many years because I never want to use a regular doctor again. One of the benefits I get Walter Reed. They have great doctors, right? I mean, they are just incredible people. And Aubry is here — Justin’s wife…Just days ago, Justin got on a bike for the first time since his injury. Tomorrow, he will finish the grueling course alongside of his fellow warriors — and it is really grueling. Justin, your story, like so many others’ in this room, is an inspiration to all of us and to all Americans. Honestly, I really think it’s an inspiration all over the world. People, right now, are watching all over the world.

“Also, with us today is Lieutenant General Mike Linnington, who serves as CEO of the Wounded Warrior Project and has done an incredible job. Hasn’t been there that long but, boy, you took it and you just — what a job you’ve done. What a job you’ve done. In a moment, General Linnington will introduce another truly remarkable Wounded Warrior, Jose Ramos. Before we hear from General Linnington and Mr. Ramos, I want to thank every veteran in the room for your patriotic service and selfless — really, I mean the selfless sacrifice that you put out on a daily basis. You are so respected, so loved by our country. You are the guardians of American liberty, you are foundation of American strength, and you are the greatest source of American courage, honor, and pride that we have. So, I just want to say to everybody, May God bless you. May God bless our incredible — which is what they are — Wounded Warriors and all of our veterans. And may God bless our military and, very importantly, our great country, the United States of America.”

Next Lt. General Mike Linnington, CEO of the Wounded Warrior Project, speaks on the Soldier Ride that the Wounded Warriors are doing and introduces Jose Ramos who was wounded while serving on a Marine sniper team. “On behalf of the entire team at Wounded Warrior Project, we’re honored today to celebrate this exceptional group of wounded warriors standing behind me. It’s truly an honor to be here at the White House for Soldier Ride D.C., our 12th year in a row. How about that? Twelfth year in a row. And we’re grateful for having such a great group of American patriots behind me.

“As the President said yesterday, the Wounded Warriors behind me rode through the streets of Annapolis, Maryland, and the campus of the U.S. Naval Academy, where they received the incredible encouragement and recognition for their service and sacrifice. Tomorrow, they’ll ride through Northern Virginia, an uphill, hilly ride, and it’s going to be raining. How about that? Continuing to challenge themselves physically while strengthening bonds of friendship and cohesion with each other and with the grateful citizens they’ll meet along the way, we know that with the right support, wounded veterans regularly overcome the adversity of their injuries and either return to duty in uniform or lead full, productive lives as citizen leaders in the communities in which they settle. And that’s really what today is all about, providing a venue for wounded service members to bond, continue healing, and realize that we are all here for them.

“Mr. President, thank you for honoring and empowering our nation’s finest and for the work you have done and will continue to do on behalf of our military and our veteran community. I now have the honor of introducing our next speaker, Hospital Corpsman Jose Ramos, one of Wounded Warrior Project’s legislative directors from our office right here in the nation’s capital. A native of El Paso, Texas, Jose joined the Navy in 2000 to become a corpsman — a medic — where he was assigned to several Marine Corps infantry battalions as their platoon doc. Jose served one tour in Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq. And you can only imagine the difficult conditions Jose faced while he was deployed multiple times and in very difficult circumstances.

“In 2004, Jose was hit a by a rocket while serving as a member of a Marine sniper team. His injuries were near fatal, causing devastating damage to his left arm. Despite his critical injuries, Jose was not only able to direct a fellow service member in applying a tourniquet to this arm, but he continued to assist other wounded personnel before he was himself medevacked. Jose thankfully recovered and retired from the military in 2005. And amazingly, within months of his injuries, he ran and completed the New York City Marathon.

“Jose is a former member of the U.S. Paratriathlon Team and a former appointee to the President’s Commission on Care for America’s Returning Wounded Warriors. He is also a steadfast advocate for his brothers and sisters in arms and is joined today by his beautiful wife, Jodie, and children, Donovan and Luke, sitting right here in the front row.”

Lastly, Jose Ramos speaks about his experience with the Wounded Warrior Project. “Well, first and foremost, I want to say thank you to General Linnington for those kind remarks and for recognizing my beautiful wife and my children. You know, my nine-year-old asked me if I could bring them to the White House one day, and I did today. And now I just got to make sure the Capitals win the playoffs, and I think I’m good for the year. So, no, it truly is an honor and privilege to be here today, to be at the White House amongst all our distinguished guests and particularly amongst the warriors behind me. Not too long ago, I was standing in their shoes, and it feels like it was yesterday, obviously a few years back, but it definitely brings back some memories. I also want to thank the White House staff for putting this together. It’s a lot of work, and we really appreciate what you’ve done.

“The Soldier Ride is just one of the many programs the Wounded Warrior Project has, but it’s a program that’s particularly special to me. It’s played a significant part in my life. And as General Linnington indicated, I joined the Navy in 2000. In 2004, I was seeing myself serving in my third tour overseas as a Corpsman attached to a Marine sniper team when I was severely injured by a rocket attack. Fast forward a little bit: I’m at Walter Reed, waking up, recovering — you know, going through the process as anybody who was injured at the time. And unbeknownst to me, you know, there was a group of friends somewhere in New York coming up with this crazy idea. How about we ride a bicycle across the country — right? — To raise awareness and some money for a young organization doing great work. And that was the Wounded Warrior Project.

“Soon afterward, in 2004, Chris Carney decided to do just that, and he rode over 5,000 miles across the country from coast to coast. And then the second — or, following that, he decided to do it again, this time going in the opposite direction. That was really the birth of Soldier Ride. Right? That year, we had two leg amputees join him — two service members still at Walter Reed: Ryan and Heath. And so, they trekked, starting from San Diego, all the way across back towards New York. On their route, they stopped at Walter Reed where they met up with, and picked up, a group of newly injured service members to join them the rest of the way. And I was one of the privileged to be able to join through that route. We did about 400 miles in about seven days. And in that ride, I learned three important lessons. Number one, Pennsylvania is not flat. Right? It is extremely hilly. And if it wasn’t for the Amish pastries and the Yuengling, I don’t think I would’ve made it through the state. I did say I was a Corpsman with the Marine Corps, right?

“Number two, going downhill full speed with one arm is not easy. Did not realize that. And, oh, by the way, if you’re going to go on long bike rides, make sure you’re wearing cycling shorts and make sure they’re not inside out.

“And number three — the most important lesson of them all — is no matter how difficult the challenge is, whether you fall down or crash, whether you need to get off the bike or walk –right? — Or if seems like the miles never end, if there’s someone holding you or helping you get back up, walking along your side with you, if there’s someone supporting you and helping you realize the finish line is just a little bit further, anything is possible. Right?

“Those days grinding it out on those roads made me realize — it made us all realize — that recovery takes time and it takes hard work. But at the same time, if you’re willing to put in the time and with the support, you can overcome everything. You might fail, but you will eventually succeed. Now, it’s not possible unless you have a great supporting team next to you. That’s what the Wounded Warrior Project does. And it also provides great company with you. So, anything you set to accomplish is possible, and anything that you want to do, you can, if you so choose to.

“So, Mr. President…I wanted to, again, say we appreciate your generosity and your hospitality and your willingness to have us here today to help us remind our nation and our fellow Americans that our nation’s wounded warriors still need our compassion and our support and that the mission of Wounded Warrior Project is to support them along the way, on their ride, no matter how long it takes. So, thank you again for having us here today.”

We are thankful for every serviceman and woman that has served our country and have sacrificed so much for us, many even dying! First Nation People Forgave American Government for Broken Treaties in Washington, D.C.

The First Nation people of America went on their own as a people to Washington D.C. to the Washington Monument to specifically forgive America for broken treaties. Charisma News reports on this action that took place on October 21, 2016, “Largely unnoticed, 1,000 Native American Indian tribes from the United States and Canada collectively forgave the U.S. government for breaking treaties with their ancestors during a public ceremony on the National Mall. The National Day of Prayer for First Nations, held near the Washington Monument, included intercessory petitions, proclamations and declarations of forgiveness by leaders from All Tribes D.C., a fellowship of Christians representing 1,000 American Indians from the U.S. and Canada.” There is a statue on the U.S. Capitol Building, and at the highest point, the statue is a Native American. By the First Nation people extending this forgiveness, it is believed that the start of a national awakening happened at that moment.

Less than 60 days after this event American Veterans stood before leaders of the Native American Tribes and asked for forgiveness for the terrible things that happened at the hands of military members. They knelt before the Native American leaders in humility and asked for forgiveness. “We came, we fought you, we took your land…and then we took your children…but, we’ve come to say that we are sorry. We are at your service, and we beg for your forgiveness.” A war cry broke out as soon as they asked for forgiveness. This war cry sounded much like a war cry that sounded as Chuck Pierce shared a prophetic word concerning breaking out of old structures and that a new anointing is coming. PROPHECY! Trump? “My David I have set aside for this Nation!” Prophecy Kim Clement

LISTEN NOW! (Or WATCH FULL PROGRAM!) Often, when we are watching what is happening, we can be completely unaware that we are also witnessing God’s plans unfold before our eyes. Amos 3:7 reminds us, “Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” Many have been following President Trump’s Administration, but do we know that this is a fulfillment of prophecy? When we look at a previous prophetic word the Lord gave to Kim Clement in 2014, we can see how God is using President Donald Trump. When we understand this prophetic word, we can better understand the events that have taken place as well as events that have yet to happen.

As Kim Clement shared on February 22, 2014, a prophetic vision the Lord gave him, he was shown a man that was standing in Jerusalem. “I was praying for America and I was praying for Israel. Nothing unusual. And, suddenly, going behind my back, going in the form of an arrow, was 100’s of 1,000’s of people. I was stunned by what I saw.” He continues to share how the entire crowd of people imitated him as he raised his hands towards Heaven. When he shouted, they all shouted. “They were one. There were one party of people. It continued until I realized, amongst them stood one that God had set aside to be the leader of this nation.”

Being that it was 2014, Clement thought he should be receiving this vision closer to the time that it would take place. God responded to him; “This man has a humble stature, but he is a genius.” Clement continues to describe the encounter with the Lord. “And then I heard ‘gold’. I wasn’t sure if this was attached to his name, but He said to me, “He will restore the fortunes in this nation because of his brilliance.” As Clement was fixated on the man that the Spirit of God was revealing to him, the Spirit of God continued to speak. “This man will throttle the enemies of Israel. This man will throttle the enemies of the West; and there are highly embarrassing moments that are about to occur for many, many politicians in this nation.”

As Clement continues to share the details of the prophetic vision that the Lord gave him, he begins to describe what was going to take place in the recent elections. “There will be a shaking of the Democrats in the upcoming elections, but unsettling for the Republicans…I am DISSATISFIED by what emerges from both parties.” Clement was shown a nation that was “itching for a new kind of war with America.” It was then that he was shown the shouts that we are hearing today. “They will shout IMPEACH! IMPEACH! They say, but Nay.” He continued to clarify the times that he was prophesying about. “This nation shall come very suddenly. But he shall not come in the time of President Obama. They shall come when this one arises. My David that I have set aside for this nation…they will say this man is not speaking enough!

Clement continues to reveal that the days of leaks in Washington are not over. “And then God says, ‘Highly embarrassing moments when another Snowden arises, and people will become very afraid’. They will say ‘we have no protection’. And then God says, “AM I IMPRESSED WITH YOUR WEAPONS OF WAR? AM I IMPRESSED WITH THE STRENGTH OF YOUR MEN’S LEGS? HA! I HAVE SAID I WILL BRING THIS NATION TO ITS KNEES!” And God said, “You have been humbled, and yet some more, and then you shall hear the sounds of great victory.” As Clement continues to follow the unction of the Lord, he calls all those gathered with him to cry out to the Lord. With applause and voices shouting, Clement breaks out with these mighty words, “ISRAEL IS FOREVER! ISRAEL IS FOREVER!”

As we look at the many problems that America is facing, we can forget that God is wisdom and all the problems of the world are nothing to Him. Clement continues, in this prophetic word, how man will be strategizing to solve the problems of the nation, but the man that God has raised up will solve them mightily. “They are saying, how do we kill the giants of debt? How do we kill the giants of socialism? How do we kill the giant of human secularism? I have placed that man amongst you. A humble man, and as Samuel stood before the brothers and they had rejected David to come because of his age.” Clement points out the importance of these words to all of those who are hearing this prophetic word. “Take all these little remarks I’m giving you here. They are gems. The name and the word “gold”. Remember that.” Clement continues the prophetic word. “God says, these that reject him shall be shocked at how he takes the giant down…the giant of debt, the giants have come. The brothers of Goliath standing glee watching America. We will cripple you. You will lose your credit. But God said, I said 20,000. Look not to Wall Street. However, observe. And they shall say, ‘what is your plan?’ And he will take a simple stone…and he will hold it up and they will laugh at him. But, the plan is so brilliant, says the Lord, it could only have been given by Me.”

Kim Clement again, shared a powerful prophetic word in 2015 about what would be seen in 2017. “I’m standing, I’m feeling like I’m standing in 2017, and things have been disrupted so badly that people are confused because their plans didn’t work. And yet, I’m seeing this very strong figure standing in the United States of America saying, ‘Now we got to clean up the MESS!’’ These are the very words that have been used time and time again since President Trump has taken office.

Our hearts can grow weary if we don’t see the fruition of God’s plans coming to pass. But, now, we don’t have that problem. We can see more clearly how we are witnessing God’s plans happening before our very eyes in the fulfillment of Kim Clement’s Prophetic Word. God is not on men’s side, He is on His own side. It’s important to remember where we came from. Over the last 8 years, in the previous administration, it was as if our national borders had become porous. Now, today, we are seeing an entirely different reality. Sean Hannity recently did a rough run-down of the accomplishments that President Trump has carried out since he took the Oval Office.

-Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court

-Stock Market at all-time high

-Consumer Confidence at 16-Year High

-More than 1 million jobs created

-Mortgage Applications for New Homes Rise to a 7-year high

-Unemployment rate at 16-year high

-Ended War on Coal

-Weakened Dodd-Frank Regulations

-Promotes buying and hiring American

-Investments from Major Businesses

-Created Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement Office

And many more….

President Trump continues to speak his words of encouragement and hope, just as he did when he spoke to our Nation’s military regarding actions in Afghanistan, as well as our nation’s veterans at the American Legion. This is such an encouraging moment to witness. God wanted you to be a witness of the fulfillment of His word. Wouldn’t it be a horrible reality to realize that you were against God’s plans the entire time? Now is the time to get on God’s side with your conversations, your thoughts, and in your heart.

Sweeping changes in the Veterans Affairs Office to Accelerate and Modernize access to Medical Records for Veterans-Trump administration standing with those who are standing with Americans for our Safety and Liberty

As the President recently signed a bill into law that would help law enforcement and their families receive the needed benefits they deserve, he also signed a bill that would help veterans. This bill helps those veterans transitioning into civilian life to begin a new career in law enforcement. It is the American Law Enforcement Heroes Act.

As the President continues to describe, “the American Law Enforcement Heroes Act allows the use of federal grants to help our military veterans transition to new careers in law enforcement.” The President does an outstanding job using this opportunity to express his personal appreciation and condolences to the many men and women in our armed forces that are serving all around the globe to protect our way of life. “We love our veterans, and they’re serving overseas, they’re in harm’s way, and they are doing things that very few people would have the courage to do, and we will be and always will be incredibly proud to have them with us, and they’ve been with us like nobody, and we are going to be protecting them. They’ve been protecting us. We’re going to be helping them right now. They’ve really been with us, in terms of freedom, in terms of our rights, and we’re right now, in terms of their rights.” The President has continually been outspoken regarding our service members because he understands the top priority of keeping our nation safe and the citizens within its borders safe. “As president, keeping Americans safe is my highest duty, and supporting law enforcement is my unwavering commitment.”

It is good to see our President standing behind our military and those that are electing to transition out of the military. For some, transitioning out of the military life can be the hardest part. Transitioning back into the civilian world can be a greater culture shock than the transitioning of seeing a war zone. One comes after months and months of intensive training, classes, and culture preparation. While the other can only be realized in the reality of itself. No matter how much you tell yourself “you’re getting out”, the difficulties can’t be realized until they come.

It’s important to understand that one cannot expect to understand what a veteran is going through, transitioning back into civilian life, if we have not experienced the same reality, or if we are not willing to listen. Veterans Health Administration captures this paradigm as they show multiple veterans expressing the hallmark response to someone asking how they’re transition is going. “I’m good”. When we truly begin to demonstrate a caring and empathetic ear will we begin to hear the responses that reveal the rawness of their hearts? “I’m good. But I don’t feel anything anymore.”; “but nobody understands”; “but I don’t even know who I am anymore”.

This was true for Steve Kaliszewski. After he served two combat deployments with the Marines, he only had a few short weeks left until his enlistment contract was over. Suddenly, he found himself in an entirely new city, trying to begin a new life. It seemed as if his life viciously crashed onto the rocks of despair, until God stepped in. Steve shares his story of how the transition back to civilian life was more than he could navigate and that his only refuge came when he cried out to Jesus. His story is one that you’ll want to share with every family member or friend that is in the military and thinking about getting out, or the veteran that still struggles within civilian life, whether they finished their service last week, or twenty years ago.

President Trump delivers on Campaign Promises to stand with Law-Enforcement and Veterans signing two Major Bills

As President Trump has been doing since he took the office in the White House, he has delivered on yet another campaign promise as he carries out his support of our law enforcement by signing the Public Safety Officer Benefit Improvement Act Bill into law. We always want to make sure that the families of those who serve is taken care of, and this bill does exactly that. As the President shared many encouraging remarks of our law enforcement, he was surrounded by many men and women in uniform.

“We will always support the incredible men and women of law enforcement. I can speak very strongly for myself and for Mike Pence, our Vice President. We are behind you 100 percent. Every single day America’s law enforcement officers, firefighters, first responders, and their families make tremendous sacrifices for their communities and for their nation.” So often, we can take our law enforcement for granted, and forget that it is only when we need them the most that they are first on our mind. The President shares the accurate reality of what they endure each and every day. “When a home is threatened, when danger visits our doorstep, when innocent lives are on the line, Americans turn to their courageous officers of law enforcement because we know they are here to serve and protect us all. They sacrifice every day to keep us safe.”

Not only is there a sacrifice paid everyday as uniforms across America are donned as these brave men and women begin their patrols and shifts in their respective areas, but there is an absolute sacrifice when one is killed in the line of duty. “Our duty as Americans is to honor their service and sacrifice and to protect those who protect us. Today I am proud to sign two laws to help fulfill that very, very sacred commitment.” The President then begins to share how the Public Safety Officer Benefit Improvement Act will help those who have been injured in the line of duty, as well as their families. “The Public Safety Officers Benefits Improvement Act will help disabled officers and firefighters and families of those who fall in the line of duty quickly receive all of the benefits they so justly deserve.” The President continued to share, “For too long injured officers have suffered and the children of fallen officers have put their dreams of college on hold, while bureaucracy delayed crucial benefits, made it impossible for their families. No longer. It’s unacceptable, and it’s going to end today. In fact, it’s going to end in about one minute.”

This bill is not just about getting the needed benefits to our law enforcement, first responders, and their families, but it is about cutting the red tape of bureaucracy so that these families get their benefits quickly. “This bill speeds approval times by giving state and local enforcement a greater role in determining eligibility and lets applicants track the progress of their claims online.”

This is important. It is awesome to see the President, once again, put his words of promise to action, with pen and paper. The disrespect of law enforcement has been outspoken and appeared to be celebrated over the last 8 years. What we are witnessing is a complete 180-degree shift from how things were being carried out during the previous administration. When we understand the role that our law enforcement plays in our culture, we understand the vitality for every one of them. Paul Harvey does an outstanding job describing the intricate details of what it’s like to carry out this lifestyle.

Honor and respect is not something that should be given only at certain times. It is what God calls us to render at all times. As Romans 13:6-7 shares, “This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”

Sweeping changes in the Veterans Affairs Office to Accelerate and Modernize access to Medical Records for Veterans-Trump administration standing with those who are standing with Americans for our Safety and Liberty

As the President recently signed a bill into law that would help law enforcement and their families receive the needed benefits they deserve, he also signed a bill that would help veterans. This bill helps those veterans transitioning into civilian life to begin a new career in law enforcement. It is the American Law Enforcement Heroes Act.

It is such an important and vital moment to remember the significance of Memorial Day. The freedoms that are offered and allowed to be carried out each and every day in America are not free. There is a cost. The cost is the lives of the many men and women service members in our Armed Forces that gave their lives in defense of our nation so that our freedoms would not be lost. This is the moment that we remember their lives. We remember their sacrifices and we are grateful for each and every one of them.

Since President Trump has taken office in the White House, he has consistently expressed his gratitude for our nation’s military and his support for all of those that serve in all of our Armed Forces. During this year’s Memorial Day, President Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. All eyes were fixated on the President as he stood with his hands resting on the wreath and stood motionless absorbing this important moment. As military members, dressed in their proper uniforms rendered salutes, and civilians rested their right hands on their hearts, the somber tune of taps began to play.

As the President continued to keep his eyes fixed on the wreath, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the thoughts of the countless men and women who laid their lives down, he later shared his heart and deep gratitude as he spoke at the Arlington National Cemetery Amphitheatre. “Thank you for joining us as we honor the brave warriors who gave their lives for ours, spending their last moments on this Earth in defense of this country and of its people. Words cannot measure the depth of their devotion, the purity of their love, or the totality of their courage.”

For those who fought for our nation, or those who have a relative or friend who fought for our nation, they understand that Memorial Day is more than a day, it is a constant reminder, a daily reminder to remember those who gave up their lives. We also must remember the many family members and friends that continually carry the memories of those that willfully gave up their lives. Families that carry the loss of a family member are known as “Gold Star Families” and President Trump spoke directly to them as he shared his heart. “To every Gold Star family who honors us with your presence, you lost sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers. They each had their own names, their own stories, their own beautiful dreams. But they were all angels sent to us by God, and they all share one title in common — and that is the title of hero.

As the President continues, he marks the significance of honoring those who fought for our country for the simple opportunity to serve, and nothing else. “Here at this hallowed shrine, we honor the noblest among us — the men and women who paid the ultimate price for victory and for freedom. We pay tribute to those brave souls who raced into gunfire, roared into battle, and ran into hell to face down evil. They made their sacrifice not for fame, or for money, or even for glory — but for country.” Understanding that the cost of serving in our nation’s military has remained the same, regardless of what generation was called upon to serve, the President highlights how every life that has served matters to our country. “Since the first volley of gunfire in the Revolution, brave Americans in every generation have answered the call of duty and won victory for freedom in its hour of need. Today, a new generation of American patriots are fighting to win the battle against terrorism — risking their lives to protect our citizens from an enemy that uses the murder of innocents to wage war on humanity itself.” Understanding that the cost is still being paid in our generation, the President shares about many of the stories of these service members, some of those who were among the crowds, some retired from their careers in the military, and some of those whose wives spoke about their deep love and sacrifice for their country.

As a former Marine, Steve Kaliszewski understands the tragedies of war. He served two combat deployments to Fallujah, Iraq and lost many close brothers that he served with. He shares how Memorial Day is more than a day to celebrate with a picnic, or to have a day off from work. As he also points out, Memorial Day is not the same as Veteran’s Day. Veteran’s Day celebrates our Veterans who paid with their service, while Memorial Day remembers those who paid with their lives. Some people may not understand why a Veteran doesn’t respond with a smile on their face as someone excitedly says, “Happy Memorial Day”. With this in mind, they may have a better understanding as to why.

When we look at the overwhelming sights of Arlington National Cemetery, and cemeteries around the nation, we can be taken in by the many white headstones and not connect the reality that each of those headstones represent someone’s father, a brother, a son, a mother, or a sister. Without a story of who these amazing people are, we can easily disconnect from the weight of this precious moment. There are many stories that Steve could have shared, but one always comes to mind.

Steve remembers Deal, aka “Doc”, or as his family knows him, Lee Hamilton Deal, always being the one that was sharing a joke, even when receiving enemy fire. Deal was the kind of guy that always had you rolling. While on a nighttime gun range, Steve remembers Deal sharing a story from his days as a kicker with LSU’s football team. When attending a certain sports game, his name was elected to win the grand prize of kicking the ball through the goal posts. The crowd was cheering until he was about to approach the ball. When they suddenly realized who it was, they told him he didn’t quality and couldn’t kick the ball.

When it was Steve’s team that was out on operations, carrying out patrols, it would often be Deal that was back at the Command Center receiving reports on the team’s activity. Little did they know that upon receiving intelligence, the whole platoon would move together to an objective. It was on this objective that Deal was killed as he was shot from enemy gunfire. When Steve heard Deal’s information over the radio, he knew the tragic reality that had taken place.

Steve had no idea that this was the last moment that he would see Deal.

The realities of Memorial Day weigh much heavier upon us when these stories become personal and close to our hearts. When we look across the rolling hills of Arlington National Cemetery, each of the headstones begin to have new meaning for us. In our current generation, those that are killed while in combat are buried in Section 60 of Arlington, unless families dictate otherwise. If the sight of Arlington is not somber enough, it is visiting the same location a few years later and seeing the indescribable sight of the number of rows of new plots that have been added in such a short amount of time, highlighting the undeniable cost of freedom.

As we remember those precious men and women on Memorial Day, the bugle call of Tapsbrings new meaning to all of us. We thank God for everyone who served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice. LISTEN NOW! As war has been experienced for many service members in the war on terrorism, they are coming home finding out that there are still wars to be fought. In a response to honor to those who paid a debt of service to their country, Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse are seeking to sow back into the lives of those who allowed us to experience the joy of freedom.

In a retreat in the Alaskan landscape, wounded military couples enjoy a time of the outdoors as well as spiritual enrichment. It is called ‘Operation Heal Our Patriots’. Their mission is to provide ‘physical and spiritual healing to victims of war, poverty, and natural disaster, disease, and famine in order to show Christ’s love.’ Franklin Graham shares his perspective about this awesome outreach; “We owe a huge debt to these men and women, and this is just a little thing that we can do to bring these men and women to Alaska to allow them to enjoy the beauty of this wonderful state.” Graham continues, “But, to invest in their marriages. They invested in our life, we’re going to invest in theirs.”

We are so thankful for all of our military and the sacrifices that they have made so that we have the freedoms in our lives. Marine Shares How Coming to Jesus Healed Post Tramautic Stress Disorder: We can Honor our Veterans by Empathizing with Them; Understanding PTSD

After 8 years in the Marine Corps, consisting of 2 combat tours in Iraq, and 6 years of contracting, Michael Priddy returned home and found out the fight wasn’t over. “I had really destroyed relationships with the people that were closest to me, and I was supposed to care for the most; most notably, my wife and my kids.”

The realities being experienced within veterans is almost unimaginable. As Priddy shares, “The veteran suicide rate in America, is 22 a day. The divorce rate amongst combat veterans is over 80%.” Veterans are experiencing massive trauma and many are unaware of how to respond or what to do. “There is no way to heal without coming into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.” Priddy is now putting his efforts to his pedals as he is setting out on a journey of bicycling over 2700 miles, to ride from Sacramento, California, to Marine Corps base Quantico in Virginia.

Steve Kaliszewski also experienced similar struggles and hardships in his return home after serving 2 combat tours in the Marines. He shares about the difficulty that veterans experience and the difficulty of trying to figure out how to live life again. No longer is it like it was before. After spending considerable time in team environments, understanding the values of selflessness and sacrifice, it is exceedingly difficult to then return home and empathize with many Americans as they complain and focus on what many do.

He shared what it was like to serve in Iraq during a summer deployment. In this environment, temperatures can peak in the 140s -50s. Literally. This still doesn’t stop the continual operations of carrying out missions in full gear and lengthy patrols. It also a time when he was able to be a part of a great team.

Coming home, he experienced an entirely different reality. There was no sense of urgency for those around him. He shared about one particular encounter, sitting at a red light and being filled with rage when the car in front of him didn’t budge when the light turned green. He couldn’t understand why there was no urgency. People would tell him that it would take a few months and he would be fine, but it was when he met a Vietnam Veteran that he was told,“this is going to take a lifetime.”

He didn’t know what to do with his life. He waited tables as a server in college, so that’s what he did. Now just a few months after returning home from combat operations in Fallujah, Iraq, he was waiting tables. His reality was about to take another turn when one of his customers began to yell at him about the food. He shares about he responded, “I almost killed her and I almost killed myself”. Overcome with emotions he didn’t know how to control, he simply shutdown and walked away. Not knowing what to do, he said, “God, I don’t know you, I don’t know where you are, but if you don’t come down here, if you don’t take this, I’m either going to kill somebody or I’m going to kill myself.”

It was at that exact moment that all the pressure in his life was immediately gone. “That scared me more than almost killing that lady, because I knew that was God; but I had no idea what to do.” There was another server that had been talking to him about Jesus and when Steve told him what had happened, the co-worker offered, “let’s go get something to eat”. It was at this nearby restaurant that Steve heard the message that changed his life. Jesus Christ had died for him and He had a plan for his life.

The reality is that many veterans are experiencing difficulties in every area of their life. Medical professionals have many different terms and diagnosis to label, but it is happening. What these men experienced was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD. A simple understanding is this, “PTSD is a natural reaction to an unnatural reality”. War is not natural and it is surely not normal. Despite the extensive training for war, no one can be fully trained, yet veterans often feel alone in navigating the battle of returning home with few that truly empathize and understand.

When we hear these stories of what many are experiencing, it helps us to empathize, in order to connect and pray. Even though some may not be actively seeking the Lord, we can be encouraged by Romans 10:20. “I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”

When Yehuda Hayisraeli returned home to Israel after serving with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), he had suffered extensive head injuries from battle. His everyday life was greatly affected and he could no longer get around like he once did. After repeated attempts to receive the necessary benefits he was entitled to, he was repeatedly denied. When local residents heard his story, they immediately worked together to get the resources he needed.

By sharing Hayisraeli’s story using crowdfunding, they were able to raise more than $310,000 in a brief period that was more than enough to be able to make the necessary changes to his home. Because of this act of honor, Hayisraeli is able to enjoy his daily life with his family.

Honoring God and Impacting Society Through Business

In each of our lives, God entrusts us with resources and we are called to faithfully steward what we are given. One particular couple had started a steakhouse in Texas. But, this particular steakhouse is unlike any other you may consider.

The Taste of Texas, in Houston, Texas, is known for its packed walls of Texas history and bustling tables. When you take a closer look, there is something that stands out. Before opening the front doors, guests are greeted with a bold engraving of scripture and Christian music as they enter the building. This isn’t just a business, as owners Edd and Nina Hendee share, “This is our ministry”. Today, “it is the largest, independently owned, restaurant in the state, and the top 30 in the country.”

Their story didn’t exactly start this way. After their ambitious goals to grow what they had started, they were faced with a mounting debt that reached $250,000. But, God encouraged them to continue. They pursued, amidst the trials, and remain to this day. But, their trials didn’t stop. One day, their son was killed in a tragic skiing accident. Most recently, a plane they were riding in crashed to the ground because the wrong fuel had been put into the tank causing both engines to suddenly stop. He shares, “we lived to walk away, open the door of the plane and walk out; and that is absolutely a miracle of God.”

This is such an encouraging story of how we can honor the Lord with our business and the talents that God gives us, even amidst the trials and hardships along the way.
