You don’t have to imagine too much as that is what He did when Jesus sat down on the side of a mountain and all those who were following Him, and His teachings, and his disciples gathered around Him and He began to teach. We describe it as the sermon on the mount or “be attitudes” but the truth is He was telling us; His disciples, how our attitudes should be and what the benefits of having the right attitude would be and the consequences for choosing to have a wrong attitude. He even speaks of a “heavenly reward” that will either be ours if we have the right attitude or will not be ours if we make the choice not to. In this message that the Lord led to be taught deals with very important attitudes that have to do with a multiplicity of things we all face and the right way to respond some of which are: how to respond to enemies; gossip; unrepentant sin “weeds”; the accuser; accusation; ridicule; persecution; insults; people telling lies about you. Along with many of the blessing and benefits for having the right heart and attitude: getting the kingdom of heaven; being comforted; inheriting the earth; being filled with hunger and thirst; being shown mercy; able to see God; be called a child of God. And we get a chance to glimpse into our future of what our heavenly rewards will either be or not be with Bob Jones sharing his testimony of when he had died, was taken to heaven and shown the judgment seat of Christ. You’ll be just as shocked as we were of what Jesus was telling us when He said “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
